Would Nike/ UA sponsorship help us with recruits?

Because UA just started sponsoring teams what, 3 years ago? How many of the elite teams are locked into like 5+ year deals with Nike?

UA is on the rise and are committed to having a BIG presence in the High School ranks! They will get better programs, but NIKE will keep the Elite Programs! Just look in Knoxville's back yard... Maryville High School is one of only 20 NIKE Sponsored High Schools. NIKE came to them because they wanted the Best programs in the country (& I think 74 straight wins gets you noticed) wearing a Swoosh!

And lets face the facts, UT, Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska have all fallen from the ranks of Elite College Football programs over the last few years! UT now has the leadership in place to get us back to a perennial Top 5 Team, and NIKE will hopefully soon come calling!

UT, Notre Dame, Michigan and Nebraska haven't been dominant because their coaches suck...

I don't think we would get him if he wasn't a Vol fan all his life.

...and why do you think his dad came to tennessee? Do you think he said "this jersey makes me feel good, and if I feel good, I'm going to play well"?

No, James Berry came here because we have tradition, because we are an elite program, and Eric Berry saw the same thing...

we put monster players in the NFL year in and year out (see Jerod Mayo)...they don't give a hoot if they're wearing nike or adidas, they want to go somewhere that sets them up well for the NFL and a school where they have a chance at success.

UA has always gone after the underrated and not as flashy names when they look for people to represent them and appear in commercials. They started small through grassroots marketing and they know they'll never be as big as Nike so that's the way they'll probably always do it.

and it really swayed him to go to a school with nike too didn't it?!

UT was fortunate that one James Berry, was a three-year starter and four-time letterman at UT, in addition to being a team captain in 1981! I don't think Fulmer, Swooshes, or Rankings had anything to do with UT's signing of Eric Berry!
But ask Eric which brand he would purchase with his own $$ or the Marketability advantage of having a partnership with NIKE! Cause I'm sure he may soon be signing his own marketing/ sponsorship package! He can take Troy Polamalu's spot in future NIKE commercials that have made Troy, LT, Urlacher, and other NFL Star's recognizable without their Helmets and a bunch of $$

...and to think he could actually be successful in any other brand! ghastly, the thought is!

Are you a Nike rep? This is getting a little out of control

This has been fun, but I have to get some sleep because I will be driving to ktown in the morn...I'm going to chase down coach O, take off my shirt and pick a fight with him. WILDBOYZ!

I'm fairly sure that quite some time ago it was announced we would be switching to Under Armour when the Adidas contract was up. That may have been hearsay, but I was almost positive that I'd heard it.
Oh, and Reebok is owned by Adidas, so switching to Reebok would not really do anything as nobody is sponsored by them.

UT WAS an Elite Program!! & UT Used to put out NFL players year after year! Those NFL numbers have significantly dropped in recent years! And hopefully under CLK, we will soon be an Elite NFL factory again!

BUT You are still missing the point! Your brand of cleats/ jersey's DOESN'T = VICTORY, but it does help when Marketing a School to the Athletes of today!

I love UA and Nike they are much superior to Adidas in my opinion as long as they dont mess with our uni's. Adidas gear is about as boring as it gets

It really would. Adidas cleats feel so much heavier than Nikes. Also Nike looks so much better. Our team would look better and faster in Nike equipment. Can you imagine how much faster Berry would look and be in some Nike Vapors?

Can you imagine how much smarter this post would look if you typed it on a Logitech keyboard?

I like Jeezy and all but he's no athlete. Man its Nike or UA. That would be great for our program.
