Would you still want pearl gone if he didn't lie?

Yes you did. You've whined about basketball skill, but what's missing? Maybe the shooter. The rest we have. We're long. We're quick. We're athletic. We simply don't demand basketball out of a talented bunch. We have more talent now than ever.

That's BS. I haven't been pleased with his recruiting the last 2-3 yrs after seeing them play so why would I say he's done a good job? That you think 'long, quick and athletic' automatically = talented college basketball players tells me what I need to know.

You clearly know what you need to know. You're making about 48 excuses for our lack of demanding focus, intensity and effort from our guys. The skills are plenty. Demand is nonexistent.

It's not your program. It's the public's program. No need, for high standards for a basketball coach of a public university. This isn't BYU. The University is corrupt, the system is corrupt, and the NCAA who is charging him is corrupt. Why should he been any different. Get over it, it's about winning.

Ah, okay. Berkeley is useless because it's run for "liberal indoctrination," but an institution which is nakedly run for actual, real indoctrination of a laughable religion is a paragon of higher education. Got it.

ok, then fire him for being a dumb a$$ and getting caught....

Bruce pearl is not just another guy who had pretty good mid-major stint. He had a great mid-major stint. Hes had an excellent run at Tennessee as well. He is proven commodity. I'm still waiting on the name of a specific coach who is going to come in here and clean up this mess faster than Bruce can clean it up himself.

great mid-major stint? 2 NCAAs is 4 years, out in first round in 1 of those. . .to me that's "good"

My take on Pearl is this. . .he was a shot in the arm for UT basketball when we need a salesman, and he proved you can consistently win here. But our choice is not between keeping Pearl or going back to being cellar dwellers, because I think there are good coaches who would love to have this job. IMO, we should fire him at the end of the season and hope the NCAA punishes him more than they punish the program. . .

He lied- could be forgiven.
He attempted a cover up- could be forgiven.
But the NCAA will not forgive but will crucify!!!!
This will cause sever damage to our basketball program, that is the reason he will not be retained as coach.

Oh my word.

Let's get one thing straight: there's absolutely nothing "naked" going on at BYU.

To me leaving with the best winning percentage in the history of a conference an taking a mid major to the sweet 16 is great.

Sure, let's can the guy who made our basketball program legitimate.

Blah, blah, blah we've got facilities to get a great coach, blah blah blah. If we were to can Pearl after this year, I don't think any better coach would want to come here. It's not like Tennessee's a basketball school.

Heath certainly had a great year at Kent State. No doubt about that. Which was the point if you can read.
Look, idiot. You've already been through two screen names here. We get it. You're a mindless suck who is impressed by body paint and one conference title in six years. You're welcome to leave when your hero gets the door. You are so impressed with the Horizon League, you can follow Pearl and his staff of bottom feeders there.

The other name?

Sorry, but after reading the drivel of so many of these Pearl-ophiles each day, they all look the same to me.

Alot of people clearly want Pearl gone and after each loss they use it as another reason to fire him. Really? You think that his team's poor performance this year is a firable offense. This guy is not a mediocre coach and his resume proves it. This has been a tough year on and off the court. If you want him gone because of the off-court stuff fine. But stop using the team's poor play as justification.

I don't want him gone, period. People will forget that he lied to the NCAA as he continues to take us to Sweet 16's. He's an idiot for lying, but honestly I hate the NCAA and I'll take anybody's side against them. I'd say fire him if we were anybody else, but we are Tennessee and I've seen enough bad basketball to appreciate him.
