Not much. I know he took his shirt of and painted it for a lady vols game. I know he won a D2 championship before going to the horizon league and then to tennessee. But I don't follow him like you guys do, so I don't know all of the dirty secrets of his life. Thats why I am asking you so you can help to fill in the missing parts for me. Thanks.

There has never been a stain on them.

You could blow his cover again Hat with your rumblings about the time he spends in OCI on the strip, and how you have seen him at various restaurants until late in the night and talked to servers and waitresses about him...probably your best expose in the history of the site.

This is the reason some people hate him. One of his recruits was telling him he was bought and paid for by a rival school so he taped him talking about it and after the kid went to Illinois he turned the tapes over.

Also Bruce got divorced and remarried a younger woman.

Also he painted his chest.

He also coached his son in Israel and while he was gone, a slimeball nicknamed Worldwide Wes who is a Nike pimp spent a lot of time with Josh Shelby's mom and all of a sudden he decommitted.

Also he does not run a slowed down boring game emphasizing set plays. Most of the people who hate Pearl on here are frustrated coaches who coaches their daughters in middle school, some even coached crappy AAU teams and they want Pearl to run set plays and play great half court offense and defense. They love Bob Knight and they hate streetball and they see more of Pearl in the latter.

Would be fun to see him explain why Crean is a much better coach than Pearl 2 years from now...

There are guys like Hewitt he would have told you were better than Pearl not long ago, now he knows he was wrong so he moves to the next new hottest coach...

I was hoping that the people that seem to hate Pearl would answer that for me, but thanks anyways. Hat, Lofton, is that true? Are those the things that lead you to believe he is a self serving snake? Neither of you have answered yet. I am an unbiased person trying to get educated on this matter. I would think that you would be trying to tell me how it is, instead all you seem to do is insult people and try to downplay their intelligence. I'd much rather read your insights into basketball and you answers to my question about why you think pearl is a self serving snake. I look forward to any honest, intelligent answer you would be willing to provide. I'd hate to have to rely on someone else to explain your opinion for you.

I dont know who Jacqui is. I'm still hoping for an actual answer. Is there any chance that I'll actually get an explanation for the self serving snake opinion?

No offense, but I've long since tired of answering questions about Bruce Pearl. Can't think of anything related to my disdain for him that I haven't answered here before. I'm sure a quick use of the search function will allow you to find any opinion of mine you need.

The snake is self-explanatory.

Another problem is when you pay a coach elite money, would you not expect said coach to be able to make an adjustment?

There are multiple reasons why I do not care for Pearl. They are laid out in many different posts throughout this site.

So your not willing to state your opinion to someone who actually is interested in understanding your point of view. But you have no problem taking the time to insult people who disagree with you. Are you even interested in intelligent discussion? Or is this just the place to come and pick on people with your pals?

I've stated my opinion and the reasoning behind it ad nauseum. I'm not going to repeat it everytime somebody new shows up with a question. If you're that concerned about what I think, look it up. I don't do requests.

Saying someone is a self serving snake is not self explanatory as to why you think he is one. It is only self explanatory as to what it means. I understand what a self serving snake is. You have not explained why you think that he is one. I'm sorry I don't want to search through all of the posts made looking for an explanation, it seems like it would be much easier for you to just type it now. Because you seem so passionate about Pearl, I would think you'd want to discuss the things that make you dislike him. Especially since I'd like to be convinced of his duplicitous nature. I appreciate your explanation of the salary issue. I agree that somone making that much money should be able to make in game adjustments. Thanks.

You get points for doggedness. Thus, here's the Cliff's Notes version of why I have no use for Pearl.

1. He's an NCAA stoolpigeon.
2. He constantly babbles on about how much he "loves UT" and "owes the university so much for giving him a shot at the bigtime," all the while having his minions the Pump brothers begging at the doorstep of every decent job that comes open.
3. He's arrogant enough to think taking off to coach a meaningless tournament in Israel during the July evaluation period should not be questioned.
4. Anytime his feels he isn't getting unconditional support from the fanbase, he goes crying to his sycophants in the local media about how he isn't appreciated.

There you go.

Bruce Pearl is the man!! I went to school during the Peterson era and started to become a fan during the Houston and O'Neill era. I went through many .500 seasons and am thrilled Pearl gives us 20 wins a year, for now. 10 years from now, will 20 wins a year be good enough for me, probably not, especially if they keep getting close to advancing past the Sweet 16. For now, it's more than good enough and anybody who thinks otherwise is crazy. Tennessee isn't a basketball school like Kentucky or Duke or North Carolina. Naturally, because of that, it will be harder to build a program. Right now, Pearl is doing as good of a job that can be expected!

There's no real way to say whether or not the Israel trip cost UT Selby. To me, that's not the point. A guy who has never been deeper into the tournament than the Sweet 16 has no business taking what was essentially a family vacation in the middle of an evaluation period. The Pump brothers are shoe company/summer camp/ticket broker types. A google search of Dana Pump should get you all the information you need about those guys.
