You are reaching here Hat and you know it. If you are saying that Dana Pump is why Bruce is the coach you do not know anything about the hiring process unless you are using the fact that he made Champsearch as a necessary precondition of Pearl's hiring.

I am not a Dana fan, and yes if I had bumped into the guy one time at Tavern on the Green after a MSG CBB tournament and I was a successful coach at Georgia freaking State Dana would lobby to get me a job. His criteria is that it makes him look good and gets him money from other schools in the future, not close personal friendship.

The above is a long winded bunch of crap. If you can't post in an intelligent manner, just keep your comments to yourrself. To imply that those of us who recognize that we could be better and point out obvious areas needing improvement are jealous and Pearl haters is lunacy. If we weren't serious fans, we would not be hoping for improvement that would allow us to become an elite team. Sorry for the delayed response, but yeah hes the perfect personality for resurrecting a program. give him time.. the reason he hasnt gotten anyone to the Pro's is cuz he inherited a bunch of No namers from buzz and hes only had a couple of thug recruits that got kicked off. This years draft will have scotty hopson, tyler smith, and wayne chism, plus JP prince will make a Team, perhaps NBDL... so hes gonna be okay with getting kids to the pros!

I'm a Cubs fan too. I would love nothing more than to see those lovable losers one day win a World Series....heck PLAY in a World Series. I think Lou Pinella is an idiot. What you say...he took the Cubs to the playoffs 2 YEARS IN A ROW! They won their division. He almost got them to 100 wins in 2008! How can you think that about him?

Well let's see...maybe it's because in both years he's gone 0-6 in the playoffs. He hasn't even won a playoff game. In 2007 they were the favorite to beat Arizona and couldn't win a game. The next year was worse, they had the best record in the NL and got totally embarrassed by the Dodgers. They were in the series for about 3 innings.

Now the Cubs have a pathetic history; They've made the playoffs 5 times in my lifetime, and none have ended well. Some Cubs fans point to said failure and say "At least he got us to the playoffs, name another manager to do it 2 years in a row". I say...the Cubs spent Yankee money and got Kansas City Royals results. All that "success" still ended in crappy results.

Even given all that futility, I STILL expect the Cubs to put forth the best effort and I will be critical when it's warranted. I still love the Cubs but just because they haven't accomplished jack squat in 100 years doesn't mean I'm happy with some token divison titles every once and a while.

I can agree with this, but, once again, I'm still noting the difference between constructive criticism and the constant personal attacks on players and coaches regarding things like "tanning bed", "wastes" and the constant search to find something negative or creation of standards not yet achieved in order to criticize.

In a long line of your weak arguments, this one takes the cake, yet you keep trotting it out. The only people creating standards are those you identify with. The basketball world has created real standards. Your rationalizations just don't fit within them so you've tried to shift the paradigm, irrationally I might add, to other measures to make you feel better about our inexplicable ability to win big games.

Just to be clear, college basketball coaches in BCS conferences are measured by tourney performance and banners. Beating the fired guy and 24 hour #1 rankings parlayed into Sweet 16 appearances don't get it done. Regular season wins don't get it done.

You make some good points in this article. My question is do you think that we can get a FiNal Four proven coach at TN? And if we do, does it not show evidence that Bruce got us to a level of national prominence (albeit a dim light)that would allow us to get a coach of this level. I agree that Bruce isn't gonna hang 8 banners in TBA. Who is? You don't go from dead program to Final Fours in 3 years, it takes time. And it would be logical to appreciate the sweet16's and Reg season titles and upsets of #1 during our transition to power wouldn't it? I agree were not a FF program, but aren't we closer than when he got here? I think that if we get rid of him people would appreciate him a lot more.

Your basic premise is that basketball teams transition at the pace of tectonic plates, when they're more like destroyers. A couple of players and coaching wins. Three players (one a PG) and some will can win titles.

Pleas regarding our HC sets or lack thereof aren't the target of the above posts. Hatred and negativity and slander are however. I get just as frustrated as the next guy watching the atrocity that is our hc sets. But I don't bash and hate and call names.
