Yahoo Sports lowers the boom on Miami

Well, off topic to a degree, why would FSU come to the SEC now. Clear path to the BCS, beat Va. Tech and yer in. Lookin' down the road a year or two.

as a Cane fan until they play UT :p
this is way worse IMO. I mean bounties for hurting players, all I can say is wow

prostitution and abortions

houses and thousands handed out

just don't see any hope

Things look dim. Just prepare for the worst, then if a lesser penalty is handed down things won't look so bad. It'd be a shame to board up the football program for good.

+1
been a fan of the U since I was a kid, my friend growing up was from Miami so I grew up watching them. I hate to see them go down the tubes.

But my first love has always been UT

USC got a 2 year bowl ban, loss of 30 scholarships over 3 years and 4 years probation.

4 year bowl ban, loss of scholarships for 5 years and probation. I can live with it. USC will be back in 3-4 years. Miami would take longer to recover. I'll take that in a heartbeat.

What you said.

I have a gut feeling it will quite possibly be worse, but it's impossible to predict what the NCAA (or even Shalala) will do.

Shalala needs to be tarred and feathered and sent back where she came from. Paul Dee is gone, Larry Coker is gone, Frank Haith is gone, Aubrey Hill is gone, Kirby Hocutt is gone, Randy Shannon is gone; Shalala's name needs to join that list ASAP. How do you overlook something like this?

Because the money she was pocketing was SWEEEETT!

You really think um's sanction will be akin to usc's? If a quarter if the accusations are true, miami's punishment will be much, much worse.

That was a response to my statement, although I think doubling USC's punishment would be a merciful starting point. UM deserves much worse.

well it was fun boys..

from irvin to sean taylor. it was fun....

just joined this forum recently. my house divided between my wife (ut alumni) and myself a long time hurricane fan. it has been a wild ride miamicane, but the ride is not over. I don't think we will stop at the 5 national championships. just might be a while before we get chance at the 6th.

This is like if "As the plains burn", imagine if Bobby Lowder confessed to everything. Al Golden is gone soon.

like 50-60 years?

Miami should not be allowed to give football scholarships for 2 years. They can field a team, but it has to be made up of walkons. No bowl ban, no TV ban (that hurts the other schools too much), no death penalty. It's exactly what Miami deserves.

If the 4 year statute of limitations holds, the NCAA will be able to look back to 2007-2008 (if I understand the rule correctly). Randy Shannon was in full effect then, and Shapiro himself says that the U was tightening restrictions between boosters and players. Although there are 12 current players implicated, I haven't heard what they're implicated for. That's roughly the amount implicated at UNC if I'm not mistaken.

If for some reason the NCAA can bring in the older issues, things look a lot worse for the U.

Let's not forget this is not just one school. It's one school getting in trouble for something that goes on at just about big ncaa school that has a top athletic program. Yeah what happened was stupid, but right now it's allegations not facts. And all coming from a convicted felon.I'm sure that telling the whole truth is what got him in trouble in the first place.
