Yahoo Sports lowers the boom on Miami

Shapiro compiled such a lengthy and complete paper trail on Miami it's almost like he was anticipating this happening. I mean the guy has bank statements with payments to coaches with the coach's names on it for God's sakes.

They may indeed get the death penalty....More stuff is coming out as we speak.....The NCAA is going to drop the big hammer on Miami...Wow

There is no shame in a UM grad defending his team. The reason people loathe Miami is the fake hangers on. That comprises roughly 80 percent of a home game audience.

Not such a big number when we only get 30k to home games.

This. Is. Fun.

I disagree, we are still waiting on a ruling and it's all fun and games until it is happening to you. I can't help but feel sorry for the grads, the students, the fans and the current football team(many of whom did nothing wrong). Kind of sad.

I guess after all we've been through, it's refreshing to see it happening everywhere else as of late. Is it wrong for me to feel this way? ... Probably.

Eh. Oh well.

I hate it for devoted fans of the program but Miami needs to be nuked. It will take years to recover, but there is so much corruption down there it needs to be done.

Thank God for that question mark at the end. You were getting dangerously close to a run-on sentence.

I knew I was getting close, and it took a minute or two to decide between a question mark or an exclamation point.

:)

This is why Miami is not a factor. They are only relevant when they play a rival like fsu or ga tech. they have the same crowd as vandy. the community doesn't really care about the canes. the only way they could ever survive is with shady kick backs. check the last 30 yrs. without the payouts from luke and this dude the program would never had skyrocketed. very dirty program over numerous coaches. they shouldn't even be in a bcs conference at this point.

Your candor is refreshing, especially after I've been so antagonistic. I am finding it hard to dislike you, even if you are a 'canes fan.

I don't know what I'd think if I were in your shoes. Its so overwhelming I guess you just have to shake your head and see what happens. Saw Shalala's comments last night. An air of resignation that its true and its bad is setting in.

Misery loves company. But what's coming down for you is child's play compared to what is heading for Miami.

Im with you here. It sucks to be a real fan and/or alum of a school when there is trouble. I feel for them. Having been a Spartan all of my life, and a Gator since the mid 70s, I have seen my share of problems. It sucks.

Back home we have what we call "walmart wolverines". Basically, they are fans of the school because of the success of the team, and because the shirts are more readily available at the walmart, or the local goodwill store. Those are the type of fans I do not feel sorry for.

I laugh at some of these problems, and I make jokes, and I rip the school, but I feel bad for the real fans and alums.

And at the same time, I hope that those who are guilty get what they deserve.

???? Where are you from and why would you assume GTech fills anyone's stadium?

The bandwagon Miami fans get behind the team when it's winning and ignore the team when it loses.

As for the last 30 years, none of our 5 NCs have been stripped. Program has had it's issues though, I cannot deny.

How many seniors does mihammy have on this years team.
And I guess, how many juniors.

Just brainstorming as to what two years without signing another player would do as a punishment.

Lots of talented Seniors. Less juniors. Not a very solid foundation in the sophomore class, and the freshman class has yet to take the field.

I'd say we're an older team and this would hurt bad a few years down the road.

Since we know there is not going to be a "death penalty" or even a 2 year suspension of the program, I would think that a 2 year suspension of schollys, and then allow the scollys back about 25% at a time, starting in year 3, that would be a fairly reasonable suspension.

Im not expert, and not a hater. Just brainstorming as to what might happen or be reasonable.

It it is as it seems by all accounts, the "death penalty" is in order. If not now, when?
It will never happen again. But the NCAA has to find better ways to punish.

Instead of banning a team for 2 years, just take all new schollys away for 2 years. Kid graduates (or in MiHammys case, ages out) and they cant replace the scholly for 2 years.

I disagree, scholarships all disappear at once. The kids who are there now can transfer with no sit-out year.
