Things have obviously changed since then. Now the NCAA and schools can't treat players like cartel assets.
It isn't close to the biggest game; that was the FL, AL, and GA games. SC was 'bigger', and LSU. It's the "biggest" to you and some fans placing too much emotional emphasis on it. Makes sense....
This was Hyatt's breakout season, not the prior 90 career games. There's a difference the games you played to become a high draft choice, and then actually being one. If he elected to play anyway, great - his choice. If he thinks I'm on the precipice and no need to jeopardize it, great - his choice. You already read instances of players being injured late and losing $$. Tillman's status may cost him money.
You don't see it because you - John Fan - don't want to.
I think Clemson would be the favorite with or without Hyatt/Tillman.
I promise you that Saban didn't push starters and over half of his WRs to the portal. Kirby has like 2 kids (maybe one) in the portal right now. How many people are saying Alex Golesh quit on his team? He didn't stick around for the bowl game, and Heupel advised him to do what was best for his career. I suppose you see that as professional malpractice as well?Coaches with 2 loss seasons get better extensions than coaches with 3 loss seasons - usually. Believe what you want but your coach is pushing kids to the portal just the same as Saban and Kirby.
no I see it…..But if injury is the concern why play a single minute after you’ve climbed the draft boards?! It makes no sense to play against a garbage Vandy team and risk injury either.
What are your thoughts that Bryce Young and Will Anderson are opting to play in the Sugar Bowl, but Hyatt is opting out? It’s been exciting to watch the success we’ve had and then feel a bit disappointment when our star WR won’t be playing. Young and Anderson are projected top 5 picks. Are Young and Anderson crazy for playing one more time for their team? I’m thinking the unfortunate injury Tillman had this year had a factor in Hyatt’s opting out.
Nick Saban proud of lack of Sugar Bowl opt-outs, praises competitive spirit of Bryce Young, Will Anderson

We'd have to ask the guys sitting out. Their logic doesn't have to be mine.
If it were me, I'd feel considerably more obligated to finish the scheduled season than a post-season bowl, especially a non-playoff bowl. For that matter, I would be more inclined to play the bowl than Hyatt is, but I can't say that mine a more intelligent choice than his. Nor that his is an egregious or wrong choice.
No disrespect to Jalin; he’s cemented his legacy and I wish him the best. That being said I don’t understand the opt out trend. Why is it suddenly acceptable to bail on your teammates during bowl season when it wasn’t acceptable to do so for generations prior?
Use to love him, but now I just don't know....
Its easy to comprehend Hyatt is getting drafted above Tillman. Tillman checked out early this season. 15m reasons not to play and chance a freak injury with the season he has had.Agree with every bit of this 100%
Which is why it makes sense for Tillman to skip a game and get healthy. Hyatt being afraid of being injured in December but not November is a head scratcher tho.
Had this been the Liberty bowl it makes even more sense….but this is absolutely an opportunity to raise your stock.
You do know these guys play before college right??

No one ever said that these coaches don't encourage some of these kids hit the portal, but I don't know what Hyatt opting out of the bowl has to do with the transfer portal. You saying that my logic is flawed about Heupel and opt outs tells me that you have no experience around college football programs or coaches. So I guess it does seem silly to someone who doesn't know sh!t about football.Your logic is silly and flawed to the point I can see theres no point in debating what you think coaches tell players. 11 wins is a big deal. As for the rest, when the playoffs are over, you'll see a bunch of Georgia players hit the portal. There are only 9 seniors on the team. 24 new commitments. Something has to give. Sure, Saban might have a couple starters leaving, but a good many of the guys in the portal saw the writing on the wall in bold print. Same thing happened a year ago. Everyone thinks their program is run by someone taking the high road on these issues. Except for Dabo in regards to the portal, they're all mistaken.
Joe Milton is the epitome of VFL! Lost his starting job to Hooker last year, and is still here mentoring Nico. My Vol card was revoked earlier today for my thoughts on Hyatt opting out. I demand the cards of those be revoked also who blast a VFL!!!Why can't people see what's RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM??
No disrespect man.
To answer your question it's because of Joe Milton being the starting QB
