Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

They are throwing in Lamar Stevens. I know he's not a key piece to anything in the future but have they announced his injury designation already?

Grizz are reportedly interested in Killian Hayes. I'm reportedly wondering why.

Take him for a song. Why not? He's totally sucked but the Pistons have no spacing which he desperately needs, and you are losing out anyway. See if he can find some success outside of the worst franchise* in sports right now. If not, what's it going to cost you? A 2nd rd pick? I don't hate it.

*with whom he has a 4:1 a/to ratio right now.

I’m sorry, but we are only interested in acquiring 2nd rd picks and guys who are injured and/or can’t shoot. This trade creates quite the FO dilemma.

We already have enough guys that can't shoot or shouldnt be rotation players. Hey, why not one more...

I mean, the fact that the guys you already have aren't working is another reason to try it, in my opinion. Hayes wouldn't be the first guy to find his place in the league after leaving a terrible situation.

I wanna see what happens when you roll out Hayes with Bane, JJJ, Kennard/Williams, and GG.

Hayes is just terrible as a player. It's not his situation. If we take his expiring deal in order to throw in the towel on Ziaire, Jake, or to take Konchar's extension off our books, then sure.

But this guy is worth no assets.

Honest question, how many bad shooters, particularly guards, turn themselves into moderate to good shooters? It looked like Fultz maybe turned a corner a bit last year but then this year happened.

And remember, if we kept him, Ja would be out there not hitting from deep.

@95 Vol Alum I do not expect Hayes to become a good shooter or even an average scorer. But I do think he could become a good backup PG, which has a lot of value to you with how much Ja has missed the last few years. I don't see them playing together.

I'm just not going to be surprised if Hayes becomes a TJ McConnel type (but at 6' 5").

He’s worth a dice roll if you can surround him with players our organization has failed to acquire for the last 15 years.

Ja
Bane
Kennard
GG
JJJ

Is an all-time what if lineup. How many stops? Zero. How many points? A LOT.

Ha ha, that would be the worst rebounding lineup in NBA history. That lineup given how 1-4 defends may not get into double digit boards until the 2nd half...

He’s an offensive flow killer. Yes his team sucks, but because he’s such a bad shooter he kills anything else you’re trying to do. He has terrible shot IQ. He can’t finish around the rim. He has an okay 15 footer and that’s it. His catch and shoot numbers are terrible. He has no confidence so he passes up what should be easy shots into harder shots.

10-15 years ago, there’s absolutely a role for him. Now? You can’t have a guy like that in your rotation.
