I watched him play Friday night and was less than impressed. He dropped two passes he should have caught. He did score on a reverse play that in no way shape or form should have been a TD (missed tackles and bad angles). He was not really a factor in run support, he got run over twice, once by a running back who weighed 20 pounds less than him, and once by a fullback (he got trucked on that hit). He did have one solid tackle where he took our TE's feet out from under him but that was about it.
I'd rather have a Zach Rogers, a Tennessee native, take up a scholly then some no-name from another state who will never see the field either.
That's just me.
Not every guy that comes here on scholarship is going to be a starter.
I agree, but when do we just stop giving scholarships away to players that may or may not help us?? I thought scholarships were meant for those that can help this team win??
Yea, special teams are nothing important at this program. Just what we need, more "mop up duty" type guys filling out the special teams rosters.
Rogers is good enough to warrant a scholarship. However, he's not going to be a starter on any SEC team.
How many times does Brandon James or Javier Arenas touch the ball other than returns?
Given a staff thinks that of a guy before he ever steps foot on campus, you think it is wise to offer someone of that caliber a scholarship?
As far as BJ and JA, they are tremendously effective when they do touch it.
