Zach Rogers

Thanks for the response ETN!! I was thinking the same thing. If you read some of the other posts on this board you hear how selfish some of the players are (see Josh Brisco) and how they don't represent the Vol Spirit. Rogers is excited about coming onto a team that is floundering at best, has no proven leader on the team, and is uncertain at the head coach position. I wish more of our players had that enthusiasm for the Orange and White.

Look at Wes Welker's stats when he played for the Dolphins.

He led the team in catches, returned punts and kickoffs and even kicked field goals and extra points when the kicker got hurt.

He was good before Moss.

Let's get serious people his last year for the Dolphins he scored one touchdown.

He also get to line up in the slot all of the time which is a lot different from playing on the outside.

He's also in the NFL. Much more than any of us can ever say.

That was my point about "short, white, wide receivers" you recruit them in when you can, you never know what your going to get.

You need to recruit short receivers in the mold of Steve Smith not Wes Welker. Guys that can make plays when lined up against the other teams number one corner.

Those players are few and far between. You are much more likely to find a Welker type than a Smith. You recruit what you can find, you don't wait for the second coming of jerry Rice or Randy Moss to fall into your lap. You'll be waiting a long time.

I agree, he may not be a big time threat but he is still a threat. I would just hate to think what would be in his mind if he read some of the things said about him and his brother, or any other players for that matter.

GO VOLS!

I wish. Maybe he'll read this and go to the Sun Belt where he belongs.

We shouldn't be recruiting Wes Welker types up here anyways. We need playmakers on the edge that strike fear into a defensive coordinator's heart. The Crabtrees,Maclins, Harvins of the nation.

Marquis Maze at Bama could've been that guy, that guy was incredible in high school and has shown his potential this season.

Prediction.......he will never be a significant player for UT at any position, much like his older brother Austin. there will be a new regime in town when he comes on board

Will he play defense. Seems that he would be a good fit there. If so I think he will see the field.

He will be a safety. He is fast, smart, and is a ball hawk. Im not saying he will start his first or second year. He does have an excellent chance to be a starter before he leaves.

He might get a chance to return kicks as well.

Just an update on Zach Roger and his lipstick lips:

Coach Kiffin called me Sunday, we talked briefly," said the versatile Rogers. "He was in a hurry, said he wanted to call me and come in contact with all the committed guys. He's coming by school (today). I'm looking forward to that."

But Rogers focused Monday on aiding Kiffin's promise to "lock down" the state's recruiting borders.

"Oh yeah, I was doing some recruiting and trying to persuade them. Try to help keep a positive mindset with them because they all liked coach (Phillip) Fulmer and to see him go it weighed a little bit on which way they were coming. Coach Kiffin is a great coach and great recruiter. Marsalous had already talked to him, Marlon's already been in contact with him. I'm playing in the East-West All-Star game next week with Eric. I'm sure I'll talk more about it next week, try to get him thinking orange."
