They have an incoming freshman and the freshman who took chryst job last season and is out injured for the spring. And he still wasn't gonna start next year for them.
He announced transfer before that injury announcement. KJ was #3 QB, davis mills was a top 3 QB.... not like he lost job to scrubs. He doesn't suck regardless of whT people are saying I. Here. Solid QB that can push JG and protect us in case of injury which is pretty likely with JG past and our OL. chryst tore his ACL in the bowl game the year before last. So he was playing on an ACL that wasn't even half a year removed from being torn. Typically it's yr 2 when you see a player really come back from ACL physically and mentally. Someone could easily be getting a steal in a fully healthy.
Stanford has a stable of QB meanwhile we have sucked at recruiting QBs. It's not even a comparable situation
I forgot about mills. As far as the injury, it's not like he was any better before it. But sure, depth would be great. I just don't think chryst is good. And imo may not be worth it. It's cool though. I'm not gonna be mad if they get him. Just stating my opinion about him from a cost benefit point of view. If he doesn't directly or indirectly cause us to lose a spot next year then my opinion of the cost changes.

It doesn't hurt anything. He comes in and leaves after yr. not taking up a spot. We didn't even sign a full 25 and will have roster spots
Where are you getting a "Bad QB"? Our current guys were just young. The incoming guys would not be brought in if our coaches thought they were "bad."
But going all out in the off-season, both physically in the weight room and mentally with the new coaches, film and whatever playbook we have at this time DOES make someone better, and having an unknown experienced QB on the way does bring competition that should light a fire under somebody there now.
the fifth-year senior quarterback from palo alto, calif., took an official visit to tennessee this weekend, and he told govols247 on sunday before returning to california that the vols have everything that im looking for in a program and hes definitely considering them. the 6-foot-5, 234-pound chryst said he currently has no other visits set up, and he hopefully will decide on a new school within the next couple of weeks.
just the coaches history of winning and them bringing in all these guys from all over (running backs) coach (chris) weinke, (offensive coordinator) tyson helton, all these other guys from all over that have a good background and football history that theyre used to winning and running a pro-style offense in the sec, is something im considering, chryst said.
During his stay in knoxville this weekend, chryst heard a relatively straightforward message from pruitt, helton and the rest of tennessees staff. theyre just looking for a guy, someone who can go in there and win games for them, and thats something i want to do, as well, chryst said. they have everything that im looking for in a program, so im definitely considering them.
the great coaches are throughout the entire program and great people all over, from what ive met, chryst said. the recruiting staff and everyone thats involved in the program has all been great. Its been a good time to look at a program like this.
the vols also have shown interest in another graduate-transfer quarterback, gardner minshew of east carolina. But minshew visited alabama this weekend and has yet to visit tennessee. With his trip to knoxville behind him, chryst didnt rule out that he still could explore other options in the coming weeks. But with no addition visits planned, he said he might be ready to decide on a school soon. thats definitely the goal, he said.
He's available because he's graduating and has a year of eligibility. Good QB's transfer all the time, this shouldn't be news. Stanford has been in the zone for a decade, they probably have 3 QB's that could start for UT in '18.
Do you folks who are against a transfer QB really think that only starting QB's at successful programs are good enough for the 2018 Vols? I have news for you, there are dozens of backup QB's who could step in and win the job in Knoxville.
