1 Oregon vs. California

...and if Oregon is lucky enough to have Auburn win out and make it to the national championship game (I don't think they'll beat Alabama), then Oregon will be playing against a very porous defense.

That's true. Getting by Alabama and South Carolina is no easy task. If they should, I'd still think Auburn has a 50/50 chance to beat Oregon. I feel like they'd have an easier time preparing for Oregon that vice versa because they have footage of designed runs. Cam Newton usually just scrambles and improvises. You can game plan around it but just like Vince Young, he just kind of does what he wants. Hard to plan for that. Texas-USC for instance, most people knew VY was going to run on 4th and 5. Vince went 15 yards untouched.

I'm going to kill myself. Who's with me?

Credit where credit is due. You've been ringing the alarm bell about Ducks @ Cal for a long time and I've definitely ridiculed you for it.

From the perspective of an Oregon fan... we played awful. This is definitely one of those games where if we play it again and play like, I'm not sure who comes out with the W. Oregon played like crap but if Brock throws better, Cal easily pulls it out. Plus their D showed up BIG TIME tonight. Also, key moment in the the Cal kicker missing the FG or Cal getting stopped going for 2 or Oregon nailing their 2 point try or all the bad calls on both sides or (insert any of the many key moments for either squad)

Bottom line, Cal has always been a scary place for Oregon to play and it ABSOLUTELY remained so tonight. Good game, Bears.

I'm not exactly sure why California would be a scary place for Oregon to play. It seemed that Oregon fans outnumbered Cal fans about ten to one in the stands, maybe even more. It was almost like playing a home game minus the great acoustics.

To the stupid booing Oregon fans: your team runs a permanent "hurry up" offense. It is going to cause the defense to cramp up a lot, since they can't sub. Deal with it.

I'm pretty sure that there were no cramps. The assistant coaches laughing their asses off as the "injured" player reached the sideline is at least a little suspicious. :)

Game over. Cal loses because their kicker choked.

I don't know. Looked like Oregon could have scored on that last drive if they needed to.

If Cal's defense can shut Oregon's offense down, a lot of defenses can using the same game plan. Cal lost like 40-0 to USC or something like that.

USC lost to Oregon by 20. Things don't always turn out as expected between different match ups.

It's a ***** move. Chasing points that early.

I think it's a smart move. It's easier to get those 2 points that might be the difference in a game when it's early and unexpected.

Saying it's a ***** move is probably similar to what the British said when the Americans shot at them from behind trees.

"Why don't you line up your 5 troops in an open field against our 200 like we planned?"

You got to know the history of Oregon in that building.

This was our first win in the stadium in a decade. It was also the first time Oregon EVER beat a Jeff Tedford coached team in Berkeley.

Two years ago, we went and played in a monsoon where Cal had like 7 turnovers and we still lost... that was a 10 win Duck team. Two years before that, Dennis Dixon brought an undefeated team into Cal and got slapped around pretty good in a big loss. Two years before that was a narrow one point loss that ended up costing us bowl eligibility. The list goes on...

We travelled well, sure. The Ducks usually do for most Pac-10 games, even more so in a season like this, but Memorial has always been a scary stadium for Ducks.

Football is in no way similar to battle. Ever.

I'd say Cal's kicker won you the game this week. And that doesn't change the fact that going for two in the second quarter is ridiculous.

You're wrong.

Oregon had the ball, 1st and goal, on the 19. With 1:04 to go and all 3 time outs. We ran out the clock cause we didn't need points. Give Cal's kicker that field goal and Oregon drills a veritable chip shot as time expires.

...and those 2 points would still be the difference.

Right, right. oregon's kicker was on fire tonight.

So I guess it wasn't Cal's kicker that was the problem? 26 yards is a chip shot. He'd have made it. Any way you want to play it... those 2 points were absolutely clutch... the difference in the game.

They weren't clutch in any way, you got them in the 2nd quarter.

ok, so Tetford is dumb for chasing points that early in the game? I agree

Absolutely. Tedford had all sorts of dumb mistakes. Burning all his TO's early in the second half of a close game. Declining the holding call which kept the clock running.

But still... if Oregon, by going for 2 doesn't put Tedford in a position where he needs to chase points... It's 14-14.

2 Points Converted. Won by 2. It's that simple.

Lyls, it really isn't worth it. The guy is hanging around another team's board that his team won't play again for 2 years, salivating at this caress with greatness. Just let him have his moment, even if he is having it in a rather awkward place.

I have a strong feeling Oregon won't be able to finish this title run.
