'10 CA QB Chase Rettig

What about Garret Grayson? I think he is the sleeper quarterback this year.

Don't you all think that we might want to get away from recruiting all these west coast QB's seeing how great success we are having recruiting them?

UT has had two Clausens and an Ainge from the West Coast. If they are from LA and don't go to USC or UCLA... they have to get on a plane anyway.

Unfortunately that is where most of the really good ones are. We don't have much of a choice.

I was talking about with this recruiting class.

Oh, OK.

Even so as tennisguy pointed out, not only is this a weak QB class... the strength it has is in California.

It is amazing to me how few southeastern QB's there are this year.

What part of you is that sctrojanfan? Although, you're USC - you can afford to take the raw guy with big upside and not worry about recruiting taking a hit.

One thing I noticed about Rettig and Scroggin's form, is that Chase holds the ball up high near his ear, and he seems to try to keep his feet moving, whereas Jesse holds the ball in a more natural, comfortable position, and he doesn't seem concerned about keeping his feet moving.

This accounts for "why" I think Scroggins just looks more fluid. Holding that ball up high, near his ear is obviously something Chase was coached to do, but not many QB's adhere to. Including Tom Brady. Peyton used to do the same in college, but if you watch him in the NFL now, it's back to a more natural position (chest-shoulder level)...and Peyton's feet aren't nearly as "happy" as they were in college either.

I like how Jesse maintains a nice wide base/stance when he throws, and that likely helps his accuracy.

It still amazes me that you whined about people insulting you, yet I have yet to insult you and all you are doing is "trying" to insult me. HYPOCRITE!!!
I was posting an opinion about one of Lamaison's teammates...about possibly getting a look by his coaches on the offensive side this fall, then you ambushed me from the flank. In the Army I learned the quickest way out of the killzone is oftentimes to turn straight into the enemy with a heavy volley of grenades and gunfire of your own.
You don't want shiite, don't start any...best advice you ever had in your life...free of charge.

Now damnit you two. you left lamison and jumped to rettig. Yall stop it.

I think Rettig will be a pretty good QB in a few years with some good coaching.

Honestly, do you think you're going to get good info at 445 in the morning?

so if Scroggins goes USC then Rettig will probably come here, and if Scroggins comes here then Rettig will probably go to USC. am i right?

If Scroggins commits to TN, Rettig "tries" to get an offer from USC or goes to BC.

Lamaison is a given.

We will be going after Newton either way.

I think it would come down to Bray and Rettig and Rettig would have the slight lead

Sounds about right and, no offense, but I hope this is the way it shakes out. We get Scroggins and SC gets to choose between Rettig and Bray... :)

By the way, welcome.. :hi:

Off the wall thought just came to my mind... Wouldn't it be really cool to have a UT/USC National Championship game in the near future??

I'll mourn the loss of Scroggins if he does not become a Vol. But acquring Newton, Lamaison, and Rettig will help with the grieving process

We can win championships with your plan B 'consolation' QB's and the beauty of that plan is that they'd all get some decent playing time to contribute.

Basically, the Vols will be great with either option (Scroggins or Plan B) as we're surrounding these QB's with too much talent for them to do anything else but win. Hand the ball to Brown or toss it to Nuke. How difficult can this job be? :p

Nick Stephens will look good with the help he'll have around him in 2010. I think he takes the job from JC before or right after the halftime break versus UF this fall. He would have challenged this spring had he not been injured.
