'10 CA QB Chase Rettig

I would not discount them. They have similar depth problems and they did not play Scroggins game. If he does not commit by end of week to us I would be really worried.

agreed, but i still think we have the upper hand. we have the better program/history/coaches. remember, they just had a QB AND coaching upheaval all in a matter of months. we got our coaching issues smoothed out already and have proved themselves as recruiters. we also have showed interest in him before today, although i agree, the waiting for JS probably didnt help with Rettig, but i dont think it will have hurt us too bad. now if we land JS, what will Rettig do?

Without digging too deep,..who has offered besides UT & BC? I like our chances with this kid.

i wouldnt be suprised if Rettig still waited to see what Scroggins final decision is. He was prob beginning to worry if he would really get an offer with the Rees and other Qb rumors. The official offer gives him piece of mind that he can come to TN whether or not Scroggins comes as well.

Kiffin prob realized he better not lose both and make sure he gets one.

Nor would I be surprised. I think you are right on with this post.

I don't understand why he would be fixing to commit to BC since he knew he would be getting a UT or a USC offer soon. Doesn't make sense to me.

Because at least he would be guaranteed something. BC wouldn't be able to compete with us or USC anyways, if we want to take him. BC in this conversation is like a BB gun and UT ans USC are uzi's.

While altogether inappropriate, I believe it's fi'n to.

Since he camped with us, Rettig has been getting a lot of exposure, and now that he has an invite to one of the 2 AA games, his stock is high enough to land the kind of Offensive players we are after.
Mark it down, folks...ole Tennacious is making a bold prediction here. Barring an injury, Rettig overtakes Scroggins in the recruiting rankings before National Signing Day. 4* minimum...5*likely.

another thing about Rettig is the national exposure that he has received over the past couple weeks and the recent article is something the staff can show other recruits now. He is closing that gap with Scroggins as far as impact on other recruits. From the sounds of it, Rettig has been making some buddies along the way at these camps as well.

He really likes BC. They are certainly selling him on that huge contract that Matt Ryan got. It certainly seems like BC is real competition for us. It's not likely that Rettig commits soon IMO.

Manning: 99.2 million
Ryan: 34.75 million

I think UT holds the bragging rights on this one for now.

when you really like someone, don't you offer immediately?? :)

The issue was not what Chaney wanted it is what Kiffin wanted. Kiffin knew players would follow Scroggins and probably thought they could get Rettig after waiting on Scroggins.

Sometimes...just like us fans...these kids hate getting jerked around.
Jesse know's he has dragged this on longer than his peers (other elite QB prospects). Terrelle Pryor, he ain't...riding pine he will...20 minutes down the road.

I'm going to enjoy watching Rettig light up SEC defenses, while Jesse's frowning over on USC's bench. :cray: At least his dad can watch him keep Barkley's seat nice and warm. :)

So does anyone have any info about when this kid wants to announce. I don't remember him saying anything but he needs to soon. I'm tired of coming on here everyday to check out the qb situation. I want to move on to something new but this is too important. haha.

is that the current salaries, or the rookie salaries compared?? manning is a seasoned vet. what, 12 years now? ryan is done with his first year. unless those are rookie salaries compared, then your argument is useless.

agree.. the only time you worry about BC in recruiting is QBs, Dlineman, and Olineman. They have a pretty good track record at these positions of producing productive players. BC can boast about 2 of the Top 15 QBs in the league are from there(Hasselback and Ryan). We have Peyton and thats it in the NFL; despite always having very successful College QBs...this should change with the new O though

Cant really compare rookie salaries because it was 12 years ago. What you can do is compare stats 12 years from now, but the op indicated Ryan had a huge contract, I simply pointed out that as far as huge contracts go Manning's is higher. So your post is now deemed useless.

There is some kid named Eric Ainge that is in the NFL. May not be a starter, but he is still there as of now. Our staff can stake claim to many more.
