'10 CA QB Chase Rettig

So i am guessing Rettig wasn't patiently waiting on that TN offer afterall..... I figured we would hear rumblings of a commitment by now

My point is that BC does a great job of coaching kids into the NFL especially when talent level is taken into account. Lack of great competition didn't prevent Matt Ryan from being drafted #3 overall or being named ROY. He's a perfect example of what I'm talking about, a kid who was not heavily recruited but benefited from very good coaching. If I were a QB I'd be impressed as hell by that but then again maybe I'm just easily impressed.

welcome to the board!

I am not that familiar with your coaching staff, but I wasn't all that impressed with our previous staff. I would say there is a good chance you are right about that. I think UT has gotten a ton of players into the league because of the caliber of atheletes we recruited. I am not sure our staff did the best job in the world of coaching them and getting them ready for the next level.

I do believe our current staff will be one of the best in the nation at getting them ready for the next level though and I can't wait to see the progress in the coming years.

Because it probably was a big surprise and he's deciding weather or not to wait for JS's decision or go ahead and pull the trigger.

i say pull the trigger. i want JS as bad as the next vol (well, other than tennaciousutfan or w/e his name is), but i want a QB and wouldnt mind turning up the heat on JS. he wants competition well here it comes. JS is still the better IMO but we will see how JS really likes competition if he really is leaning towards UT. it would also show that CR isnt afraid of JS either (or that he believes JS is going to USC :dunno:) not to mention CR is by no means a bad choice

guys heaps was outstanding, but he wasent as far ahead as you think, not like he could have come in and played QB as a true freshman, im sorry who ever comes is not gona be a starter from day 1. so i wouldnt call him crazy, even though its a bit of a streach.

I think Rettig is coming in January, will take part in spring practice and will compete with Stephens and Lamaison for the starting spot.

San Clemente (Calif.) High quarterback Chase Rettig finally received his first offer recently after performing well at Boston College's camp. BC is scrambling for a quarterback after the de-commitment of Joe Boisture and would love to lure Rettig from the West Coast. But Rettig just got his second offer and it's one he had been waiting on – from Tennessee. The Vols are waiting on Jesse Scroggins, who will make his decision on July 25 (USC is the team to beat), but were impressed enough with Rettig to offer him anyhow. Despite the Tennessee offer, Rettig is interested in BC and this could be a closer battle than many expect.

- Mike Farrell...

of course it will be closer than anyone expects. its CRs first offer v his desired offer. theres that sense of loyalty from BC because they struck first. i still think he has a UT lean and pending on JSs decision, may end up as a vol sooner than later.

I don't know why Stephens gets so much grief. He wasn't given much of a shot last year. What he did do on the field seemed a little better than what JC was doing...to me. He at least seems to have heart. I wish Crompton would give that a try at some point.
