'10 JUCO LB Glen Stanley

This kid has grade/course requirement issues that may not allow him entry into an SEC school. Much like the Irvins kid. He may want to come here, but knows he likely isnt going to get in, and if thats so, who could fault him for going to SC where he may be able to qualify.

Wasn't going to make it in anyways. USC may not even take him, they are running out of room. We'll see if X actually wants him or if he was just kicking more sand in UT's eyes.

Any basis for the belief that it was for the free trip?

I read an article this morning that Stanley USC this past weekend. This article stated that Ed Orgeron contacted Stanley and set up the visit. So much for not contacted our recruits...I will try to find the article and I will post it...go VOLS!

The article was on GoVOLSXTRA.com...it basically said that after his visit to USC this weekend, his committment is now "open". "I'm still committed to TN but I would say I'm open". Oger contacted him about a week after they left TN for USC...go VOLS!

The staff is preparing as if Stanley will not be a part of this class.

Preparing, as in preparing to offer someone else? Any reason he was so willing to jump at an offer from those guys? Esp considering they showed so little interest in him while they were here?

Sorry to be that guy, but can anyone give me a recap of this situation? I don't have time to dig through the thread.

I know we offered and he committed on 1/24, but then less than a week later, he's opened his recruting back up? Was he just not sure when he committed, or is there more to this?

He will not qualify academically because of SEC requirements, specifically a math requirement, same thing as Irvin I believe. So he is looking elsewhere. Why he would commit in the first place is another question.

Thanks. I couldn't tell if the consensus was a USC coup from some of the comments. But, to your point, you'd think he'd have looked into his grades/classes needed prior to committing.

more importantly, the coaches would have looked into this. i'm not sure how reliable this info about him not having the required classes is. in any case, if he goes to usc he will likely never be heard from again. playing football at a school that can't play on tv or in bowl games doesn't exactly give you great exposure.... especially when you are only there for two years in the midst of a young, stacked linebacker group.

i think we need another LB, right now with Williams and Stanley we only have one! Not good news when you are about to go 3-4

Ok, what is this math requirement I keep hearing about? He's a juco so does he have to pass like math 104 or something or cal? I dont understand this math part that keeps getting brought up.

So the grades thing is speculation? LWS made the comment is it based on anything? Or just feeling of past situations?

And before we talk about it this whole line of thought is based on what? Who has actual knowledge he has not taken or is not taking the class?

Yet we have two dudes claiming he has not taken who claim no source...and they seem unable to say how they know this. If this is true will the real slim shady please stand up. I think this is neurotic nega thoughts until then.

Would love for Stanley to stay a VOL but if he leaves for USC then he was never a VOL. We dont need players here if they are not committed to the Tennessee tradition and the Tennessee tradition is something you have to want and work hard for. If he does sign with USC you will never here from him again with no TV exposure and the sanctions that will be handed down after NSD.Dont you think theres a reason why the NCAA is waiting for NSD to be over to render there verdict. These guys will regret the day they turned there back on UT and they will let it be known when the wrath of the NCAA comes down.

I think some folks here have a serious, serious inferiority complex. They think every time a recruit visits somewhere else they're "gone"... since obviously they'd never choose UT over another good program.
