'10 TN OL James Stone

Watched the game last night. He will DEFINATELY have to be a guard. He isnt very quick off the ball, and has average lateral movement. He doesnt play with good leverage and pad level, however, he did overpower the DT or OLB when he got his hands on them.

By the way CPA played a 34 defense so he was consistantly lined up against a OLB.

I am beginning to think that Stone needs to go to Vandy, especially after his showing at the UT camp.

He's a must get especially since we are supposed to be "locking down the borders". We already lost K. Malone - of course we've made up for it, but at the time it was pretty devastating. We've lost Maclin too.

We didn't really go after Malone and Maclin admitted that we recruited him harder than anyone, but his dad was good friends with a coach at LSU or something like that.

I would take all the WRs we have committed right now over Malone. Had Malone not committed so early and wanted to commit now, Bama wouldn't take him.

As for Maclin, UT was never much of a player for him in the first place. Fulmer basically screwed us over there. Maclin is waaay overrated anyway and has plummeted in the rankings due to very week/mediocre performances in camps. I'd take Michael Taylor and/or Bruce Irvin over Maclin any day.

Also I think forgetting that we have the #1 player in the state of Tennessee committed to us and also probably have the top WR and DL classes in the country.

Why doesn't OC Brown have any real offers? I know he's a bit over weight but his offers, per rivals, are Colorado, Arkansas St., Kentucky, Marshall, MTSU, Tennessee St, and Southern Miss. Obviously we don't appear to be interested

This is why I like Stone or even Arie for us. Stone has huge upside, but he needs time to develop. I do not think we are recruiting OL to come in and start as freshman because the depth we have right now. That is why J James decided to look elsewhere. James is better than Stone and Arie and could start at several SEC schools next year that need immediate help, but at UA someone like Stone or Arie could come in and maybe redshirt and we develop them down the road.

You guys aren't seeing the big picture with Stone. Yes, he's raw, but his potential is through the roof.

I agree. Just because we need OL help soon, doesn't mean we should sacrifice on a guy that may need a year or two to get prepared for SEC play. In the whole scheme of things, 2011-2013 are going to be more important years for this program.

Nobody is a MUST get...there is not 1 recruit deserving of that label.

If anyone fits that mold, its Luc. Bray is not even the best QB prospect in this class...by a pretty decent margin.

3 to 4 years the first qb prospect Mil Kiper begins puckering his lips for will be Tyler Bray. His upside far surpasses any quarterback prospect in this class. The Heaps and Simms of the world will be afterthoughts in the very near future.

Analysts were all over Blake Bell's shorts and Hendrix...full o potential.

Bray played at the Elite 11 with a big old chip on his shoulder and did exceedingly well. Skyrocketed from no where. He has the size and arm strength to excel. His most important attribute is his ACCURACY. I for one (and I am nobody) believe that out of all the athletic attributes you need in a QB, ACCURACY is the most important. No one was more accurate than our boy Bray.

The other part of the equation is brains. Does he have the intelligence, hard work, heart, determination, decision making ability, leadership qualities, confidence, etc. Does he have the Swagger? In short, does he have "pocket pressence" that our boy Crompton does not have?

I hope Bray has the X factor to excel. Our choices are limited at this point.

Agree 100%

I hope you're right...Crompton has all the tools..but accuracy/brain factors kill him (I'm not saying he's literally dumb).
Bray could be our savior! Hopefully
He enrolls in January

I believe the oline class will be key for Bray to have early success next year. Look for 8 wins to be the goal IMO for 2010, with 2011 being competitors for the SEC.

Crompton is very accurate..........When there is no pass rush

I agree 100%. He'll get killed if we don't get quality OL to block for him.
