JMO, the OL is really up in the air at this point but Stone is not ready.
It looks like Ut with a slight lead over UA and he will annouce on NSD. UA has a inhome visit scheduled for Wednesday but it seems that Stone has always liked UT but didn't like Kiffin and Co. Should make NSD a little interesting.
My first post, so be gentle. I've been sitting in on a chat with Rivals.com recruiting analyst Barton Simmons (he works the southeast and Texas). In response to a question about whether Tennessee gets Stone, this was his reply:
"I've never thought Tennessee would get Stone and I've said so because I knew how James and his coaches talked about the old staff. That rah-rah, shirts off stuff isn't really James' style. He always has liked the program though, so this is one guy where the coaching move is actually really helping TN. He's got a great relationship with Pendry so it'll be tough to turn his back on him but I might give UT the slightest of edges right now."
Also in answer to a questions I asked about Tennessee's chances of winding up with a Top-10 class, this was his reply:
"Tennessee is actually right on the cusp. I didn't realize they were as close as they were. I think they land a couple of surprises late and sneak in which would be a huge accomplishment. I think they were fortunate that a lot of their early big names were early enrollees."
I know his opinion is far from gospel, but at least this info comes from someone who seems to have actually talked to some of the people involved.
I didn't want this guy in the old system, but now, I think that we can definitely use him. I think that he will be a good one, and especially since he's an in-state boy, that makes it greater. If there's a good player in Tennessee, I want to get them. I hate we missed out on Brunetti. But I wish him luck, and I'm happy with our class thus far.
