'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

Washington is going to be pretty hard to overcome, but if it isn't U-dub it's us. I don't think he goes to BYU.

The VolNation radar. And don't think the coaches aren't aware of him. There is a reason we haven't offered yet. We like the prospects we are pursuing better, or he just has no interest at all in UT.

I don't realy think we are in trouble if we do not sign Heaps, Sims, or Thomas. There will be some good prospects emerge in the 2010 class. I like this kids size and statistics, will have to watch the videos when I get home.

I wish we could sign a Qb earley, I would think with the ability to start as a frosh would be a great sales pitch.

I don't think we are either. I think we could still find a good QB. I think the goal of the coaching staff at this point is to make the position at UT as attractive as possible. That's why you don't see a bunch of these guys who could definitely play at this level with offers. If Heaps signs elsewhere, given Sims later time-table, I think you will see a lot more QB's receiving Vol offers. They know about them, they've seen film, they just know the guys they want the most and are going after them hard.

I like Scroggins a lot. I wouldn't be the slight bit disappointed if we landed him instead of Heaps or Sims.

I agree totally. I just get aggrivated to see Bama offering every QB on the dang board and us with 3 offers, 4 if you count Stokes..

Pisses me off too. With signing McCarron this past year and Star Jackson the year before that -- you wouldn't think Bama is an attractive place for a QB.

Star Jones is probably going to get moved to WR by the end of this year according to Bama fans, and they say McCarron is at least 3 years from being an SEC caliber player.

At this point, they say a walk on is their 2nd string QB.

This is one position we can't afford to gamble with since we havn't sined one the past 2 years. I see this as our biggest need with offensive linemen not too far behind.

From what Chris Low has said, Star Jackson is battling for the starting job. That's changed?

According to what I've heard.

McElroy is the unquestioned starter and has exceeded expectations in scrimmages.

Darrah (sp?) is the backup.

Star Jones is 3rd on the DC from what I understand, and they don't like his athleticism holding a clipboard.

Basically, they're saying that Star just isn't cut out for a pro style offense. He's still having issues with drop backs and making his reads while he does it.

Wow. Makes sense that they would be going after a QB this hard then. Especially being that McCarron is no sure thing.

Yeah..most people say McCarron is a long ways away. A guy I know met him in a waffle house and said that he was lucky to weigh 160 and was one of the cockiest people he ever met.

They're about as desperate for a QB as we are, because after McElroy, they're probably in worse shape than we are.

Star Jones... classic.

I'd love to see C-Walk come off the edge and grind her into the turf...
