'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

I don't write much but after researching this years crop of Quartebacks I believe Heaps is the best. I also like Nottingham and Scroggin.

people at bammer dont like outsiders or people who are different much so Heaps (who is a Mormon from Washington) going to bammer would be a huge mistake. i really believe that he will end up choosing us because of the NFL experience of our coaches. he has said many times that his number one goal is makin it to the league, so i think he will see our staff as having the best chance of getting him there. also, i think the fact that Chaney was drew brees' OC at purdue helps us a lot too. i saw an interview with him and when asked what NFL QBs he compares himself to he said Drew Brees and Peyton Manning(wink wink). all factors considered, i will be very surprised if our boy jake doesnt come to UT.

Bama has way too many quality QB's for them to be a factor with Heaps

Not really. Outside of McElroy, they're in worse shape than we are. Their 2nd stringer is a walk on. The 3rd stringer could be getting moved to WR. The 4th QB won't be ready for at least a few years, if he ever is.

I agree. They have as optimal a situation as we do. Of course with Sims, they are out of the race for Heaps.

IMO:

Jake's highlights were the most impressive of all the QBs on this forum. He has the best mechanics of the bunch, even though they could still use a little refining. Has a live arm and is able to throw everything from a soft lob to a frozen rope to squeeze the ball through coverage. His mobility is underrated, as he is a very fluid athlete and is able to consistently make difficult throws on the run and across his body. Negatives: does not have elite arm strength, lacks ideal size, and occasionally gets locked onto one receiver.

With good coaching I can actually see Jake pushing for starting time as a freshman, especially if he commits to a team that is as wide open at QB as we are. I can't really say the same for Sims, Scroggins, or anyone else I've seen in the 2010 prospects.

I like the sound of that. What program was that on? I would mind watching that myself.

i dont' disagree. Damn the analysts to hell. I think Heaps is the most "ready" QB of any out there and he may end up being the best. It would be a shame to see him go to Washington and waste his college career.

Nothing has really changed, but that being said I'd give UW more of an edge now that practices have begun. Jake has been attending quite a few UW practices and Sarkisian has been talking to him a lot in person.

Geez. That would be such a stupid move on his part to go to U-dub. He is not going to be best prepared for the NFL there. He could come here and become a Heisman candidate or stay there, back up Locker and be obscured for the remainder of his career. I hope someone around him is advising him with his best interests at heart.

I wouldn't read too much into it. He was offered by OU, but they have Bell. I think it's UW, BYU or us.

I really don't understand. If we don't land Heaps. Then lane is forcing himself to steal one of these QB's from one of there committed team on NSD. But we need a QB to commit early. Im starting to get nervous. We just need to go ahead and offer Montana. Hell why not.

I have a friend that works closely with the coaching staff (in the recruiting office) and he told me tonight that he was suppose to call the coaches sometime this week but he expects him to go to BYU with WU a close 2nd

We have offered Nick Montana. I get the feeling the coaches are starting to explore their other options because they feel they are going to miss on all the big targets.

Thank you sir!

I don't know if I would read to much into what he said here after watching the video. He also mentioned Brett Farve as well and said that he played for Texas Tech on NCAA but I would really like it if the kid chose to come to UT.
They didn't have UT list as one of the schools with offers. They were all west cost schools.

What?... then the "great recruiters" aren't living up to their hype! How could any kid pass up the early playing time? That alone should get a good qb recruit.
