'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

have to agree with sab here about Heaps..Coaches seemed to have moved on with all the activity we are seeing lately with other qbs.

I agree with this statement....but our coaching staff is never "out of it" until after they have signed with another team.....there is still a chance they can get Heaps...but they are smart & are not putting all their eggs in one basket.

For everyone that's saying we are out of it with Heaps, how much chatter was on the boards about Irvin, Williams, and Copeland before they committed?

How is that related in any way to Heaps? Most everyone following the situation has said we are out of it. Some of you act like we that know are pulling this out of thin air. Heaps is not coming to UT. Period. Move on.

I think they're more referring to the "chatter" about Heaps to BYU, which many experts believe will happen.

If heaps isn't talking to the experts, how do the "experts" knows? I'm not saying we are going to get him, but don't act like you know we have no shot.

Even though they don't talk to Heaps directly all the time, they have a sources that do.

How many of those experts said Oku to TN after following the situation very closely for a long time? These are 18 year old kids, if we knew what they were going to do through interviews and "inside sources", following recruiting wouldn't be any fun.

Thats why we, and many of the experts, SPECULATE. I never said any experts said he was a BYU lock, and nobody here knows where he's going to go and all we really know is what the experts tell us. And if you look at my earlier post, i said nobody knows where jake is going to go expect jake (and i'm not even sure he knows right now).

That's a great post. If the kid knew where he was going to go for sure, he would just announce it. It's the people like sab, that speak with 100% certainty that bother me.

It's not the so-called "experts" that I am going by or hearing this from. It's from people close to the coaches and if the coaches don't think they are getting a guy and are focusing on other targets, it's almost a sure thing that they don't land him. Could something extra unusual happen and Heaps suddenly have a change of heart? Sure. That's possible, but there is less than a 5% chance of that happening IMO. It's BYU or Washington and the smart money is on BYU.

LWS has never been wrong?

I'm reading the same stuff sab is. His inside sources are posted online. I'm just sick of hearing his certainty with no personal knowledge. He speculates and acts like it's fact.

some of you guys don't need to get too hung up on one player. hopes will surely be crushed. Heaps is not at all a similar situation to B Brown and just thinking we will/can get him because of our staff is just a ridiculous notion. Our main focuses are elsewhere and it's surely not the end of the world/recruiting season.

....there is plenty more time to get your hopes up with better talent than Heaps. Sit back and enjoy the ride my friends.

I can't recall LWS mentioning anything about Heaps. But sure, anyone could be wrong until he signs on the dotted line on signing day. Anything is possible. But it's unlikely. I would love to be wrong, I think Heaps is going to be a star at the next level, but I know enough to say with near certainty that the ship has sailed on Heaps.

I don't say that to piss anybody off. I just think people should be aware and set their expectations accordingly.

....maybe i'm just used to Fulmer recruiting years. maybe this year/staff will keep surprising. :)

maybe and if are some of the biggest terms used when referring to recruiting

If you don't want to know the situation, then don't click on the thread. Form your own opinions. I'm not going to stop posting mine though.

I definitely don't have my hopes up with Heaps. I do think he's the best quarterback out there, but I think this staff can win with a lot of other quarterbacks out there. I actually think this staff can win with what's on campus right now.

We're all just speculating. There is no certainty in recruiting. The "experts" are wrong more often than they are right.

I agree 100% with every bit of that.

i sure hope so....

I enjoy reading your opinions when you post them as such.

Thanks, but you should know that most everything I post is an opinion until it actually takes place. There's always a possibility until all doors have been closed. That doesn't happen until next February. If I rubbed you the wrong way, I apologize.
