'10 WA QB Jake Heaps

But also notice that the best two quarterbacks at camp, Brunetti and Rettig, did not get offered. Both who obviously want a Vol offer, and Brunetti, the in-state talent, yet neither got an offer. Could it be that LaMaison and Heaps are the two quarterbacks of the year? It's a long shot, but who knows?

They likely are withholding offers because of waiting to see Scroggins.

Maybe he watched the P Manning special yesterday on CFB live and that was all he needed to set us apart from the other schools......It blew my mind...Im just wishful thinking

Honestly, all the analysts/"insiders" saying BYU are just best guesses. No one in the media has really talked to Jake in a while. I'm not saying he won't go to BYU, but he is far from a BYU lock.

This is just a long shot but what if Jake kno's he wants to come to UT and knowing that Jesse is gonna be on campus the 15th I believe, Munchie getting interest, Blake sims saying he might come back, that he wants to commit and get everything out there so some will back off. Again its a long shot but no one kno's just thowing stuff out there.

the general feel based on comments on Seattle Times is that Heaps is going to BYU. The most logical reason is that Heaps is visiting BYU on Friday for Junior Day. If he was announcing tomorrow, why the h*ll would he go to BYU? In addition, there are even rumors that Heaps is already in Utah. Maybe someone should knock on the door just to check...

Jake has a sister at BYU who has had some medical problems. That is part of the reason he has visited multiple times. He said in his audio interview that BYU was not leading and the people that reported that had not spoken with him. He has said that all five schools were in the running. It's a toss up as far as we know

Maybe, but I'm still not getting my hopes up.

I thought he was cutting it to 3 schools before he commited?

The understanding is that he did, but just didn't formally announce it. His top 3 is believed to be BYU, UW, and UT (probably in that order).

Let's just say, I'll be shocked if he picks Cal or LSU (the other schools that were in his top 5).

there are reports that Heaps have committed to BYU from both UW recruiting sites (realdawg) and newspapers in Salt Lake. Right now, it seems so.

Apparently, insiders also heard that Heaps have told the staff at UW that he's going to BYU.

So it's probably as good as true.

If that's true that sucks. Keep your fingers crossed for Scroggins

I really want heaps. Come on man. I understand your reasons for wanting to go to BYU but there is more at UT than football (cause we know if everything was based on football he'd be here) there is a beautiful campus, awesome city, friendly people, pretty girls, bible belt so you know there is a church for you somewhere. Come on Dude come here. haha. To bad he most likely could care less to visit a UT message board. haha.

Washington prep star Jake Heaps, who is rated by some recruiting Web sites as the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the country, has chosen BYU and will make the announcement Thursday afternoon, The Salt Lake Tribune has learned.

A news release issued by a publicist on Wednesday noted that Heaps has made his college decision and will announce it Thursday, although the time and place was not finalized. A source said it would take place in Provo, possibly at a location near LaVell Edwards Stadium.

"Heaps anticipates releasing more information regarding time and place as it becomes available," said the release.

Heaps, who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been scheduled for months to attend BYU's annual Junior Day, which is Friday in Provo.

According to the release, Heaps had offers from 26 programs as of June 1. He recently narrowed his list of favorites to BYU, Washington, LSU, California and Tennessee.

BYU and Washington have been considered the front-runners for the past few weeks.

Heaps is 28-0 as a starter for Skyline High in Sammamish, Wash., leading his team to state championships as a sophomore and a junior.

Well that sucks but all I got to say is that, that was a big mistake Jake!

Oh well. I hope this kid succeeds. He sounded like a nice kid in his interviews.

Jesse Scroggins here we come!

I wish him success.....but I dont think BUY is going to put him in the NFL. As a big time recruit, I just dont see passing on the schools he did to go to a program that that doesnt even consistently challenge for its conference crown, let alone a national title. I understand the religious aspect.....but as far as football goes, picking BYU over the schools he could have walked into and started Day 1 just doesnt make sense.
