'12 TN ATH Sheldon Dawson

True, one year from now memphis will be better. however, it will take several years for them to reach the level of success that Williams teams' achieved. The current talent level is a problem that can only be fixed by continous improved recruiting.

Wish the kid the best. Really good pull for Memphis. He is definitely good enough to play SEC ball, IMO.

It is noticeable, IMO, when the university here does well, the city responds well, which makes everyone's life a lot easier.

Football games are won by teams front 7! I really hope Dawson and Gross can show their skill level before they get hurt! Really

Baby steps. Recruit fringe SEC level recruits will let you compete in C-USA. You cherry pick a few high level recruits down the road somewhere and you're set up to start winning C-USA outright. Gotta start somewhere.

Yeah no kidding. Who gives a flying f## what Tiger High does.

Just to give you a summary of how Tiger High fans have no sense of reality....this is one fan's comments after hearing the news:

"LARRYporterFAN:

Watch out SEC bottom feeders (Ole Siss). My Memphis T-I-G-E-R-S are building a foundation for the future."

Here's another great one:

"One step at a time.
Larry Porter wasn't voted Rivals.com "Top Recruiter of the Decade" for nothing.
Coach Porter 's recruiting would be easier and better if some of our fans would stop listening to and repeating what the SEC's stuttering George and the rest of the stinking ><}}}*>.....><}}}*>.....><}}}*> say. They want The MEMPHIS TIGERS to stay down. Our success is a threat to their programs. Coach Porter's been working hard to repair the damage caused by the R.C Johnson - Tommy West tag team and their former manager, John Calipari. Those opposing coach Porter and doubting his abilities do nothing but plant doubts in the minds of the recruits. I believe coach Porter is the right man for the program. He, however, can not do it all without our help. Let's help him renovate this out - dated Tiger Den.
Tiger Football will rise from the ashes and The Tigers could, one day soon, be a part of the Big - XII. All we need is to be competitive again. And we will.
Beware a wounded Tiger! Fear The Claw!"

SO Miss did and has done it for years with success.

A few paranoid & schitzophrenic apples can ruin the bunch, am I right?

Most Memphis fans are idiots, they think every year they will be beat UT in football. I will say that this is a good start for Porter this year, but they need more than 2 skill players.

Who are the colleges that are staying in contact?

"I hear from Arkansas State a lot. Tennessee, Cinci, Arkansas, and Ole Miss still call a lot too."

How solid is Sheldon's commitment to Memphis?

"I am still committed but I am still weighing my options at the same time. I am still committed though."

What will Dawson focus on with Memphis from here on out to make sure it is a good fit?

"I really do not know to be truthful. I guess you can say that I want to see what happens with their coaching staff. Coach (Larry) Porter was the major reason I committed to Memphis."
- Scout

We are one of the 5 official visits Sheldon Dawson will take at the end of the season. He says he absolutely loves TN, and with the struggles of Memphis and Larry Porter's job security, we may be able to steal away 247's number 1 TN recruit.

Barton Simmons says Dawson has nfl caliber corner written all over him.

Dooley recruits best at the end of the season, so even though a long shot, we may be able to steal him.

He is currently a Memphis commit. Never heard of this kid, top 10 recruit in Tennessee, runs a 4.4 forty. Impressive offer list of 16 offers including Arkansas, Tennessee, UNC, Texas Tech to name a few.

I would think we either take him or Joseph or him or Howard depending on what position he plays. I think he looks like he would play in the secondary.

247 sports has him as the top TN recruit, ahead of Kimbrow. I think another big reason he is committed to Memphis too is that they will keep him at runningback. I think most teams want him in the secondary.

Arkansas, Cincinatti, and Georgia are still heavily recruiting him even though he is commited to Memphis. If he was just average, Dooley or those other teams would of given up after he commited

Yeah I looked him up on ESPN..I doubt he'll end up signing with Tiger High :loco:

In the interview, he said he still fully believes Porter can turn the program around and is the right guy for the job. It also said if he does actually decommit, than it would seem like Cincy is the favorite.

Stl, there is a seperate forum for recruiting. that would be the best place to post this. I twill be moved anyway but just trying to help.
