'12 TN ATH Will Redmond (MSU verbal commit)

UNC is arguably the best offer a defensive kid can get. Bama is right there with them.

Butch Davis can flat-out evaluate talent. He was impressed enough to offer and that's plenty good enough for me.

This:good!:

While Davis may have had some shady doings no one can deny his success at the collegiate level

He's definitely a sleaze but he stacked one of the best teams ever ('01 Canes) and has had all kinds of NFL talent at UNC in his tenure there....which isn't exactly easy to do at a school like UNC.

He can evaluate it but how he gets it and keeps it there is the problem.

Thanks man...

FWIW...his coach...who also coaches Kimbrow...has said that by the end of the season people will consider Redmond the #1 player in Memphis

I've been saying the same thing for a while. Many here don't agree with me, but to each his own. I said Redmond will have a better year than Kimbrow.

We'll see. Redmond plays both sides of the ball for East, overall statistics may favor Redmond simply because he does more for that team. BK is just an RB, but I fully expect him to dominate.

You know this how? How do you know they didn't reach out and he said "Not interested?"

I was joking.

Kid is a good player. Those schools you listed all have really goo instate talent and can pull kids from their own state that are comparable or maybe a little better, so why the state to do it an make it harder on yourself?

Oh yeah, his UNC team was so much more athletic overall than us in the Bowl game it was crazy. That was basically his second string out there too. We had a few big time talents(Bray, Hunter, D.Rogers, Brewer, and Janzen) that stood out. But their team was much more athletic. Redmond is the type of player Fulmer and Kiffin would've missed. Just like Kiffin did with Matheiu(standout freshman for LSU). Redmond is a very nice sized CB that I could see playing early with his athleticism alone. We still don't have explosive players playing CB on this team. I think he and Dawson can bring some of that to the position if they chose to come here.

Redmond would be rated high say he were playing in Florida. He's just finally getting noticed.

No doubt. My point was that UF, UGA, LSU do not have to go out of state to get players of his caliber.

Plus, I think we came out of that game (as fans) remembering what a big boy D Line is supposed to look like.

I thought it was a #UNC / #Canes battle for Memphis East (Tenn.) CB Will Redmond. If #UGA offers, #Dawgs will have strong shot

Gotta start winning again.

The funny thing is those three programs aren't really winning. Miami has a new coach, UNC beat us with the help of the refs(and have NCAA news coming like hell), and Georgia has a lot of uncertainty around it's program. Now if Dooley and staff lose Redmond I'll be pretty pissed. For us to lose Redmond and Sheldon Dawson (two potential CBs) in the same year plus their in-state, would be just crazy to me.

Kind of hard for me to get pissed with these two. Sure I want them to come to UT, but once again that is the perils of recruiting kids out of Memphis. Geographically, it is instate, but in terms of recruiting, it is hard to call it instate given the proximity of other schools.

I really do not see Redmond at Miami. If UGA offers a kid and he is really a life long UGA fan, I can see the allure that would draw him there.

With Dawson, Ole Miss seemed likely to me from the get go. His teammate is going there. Another local kid has committed there. Not to mention that Ole Miss got in really early with him. Also, several things I have heard is that most of the people in his "camp" are pushing for him to go to Ole Miss.

All I know is that we are getting beat on practically every in state recruit. I have not been impressed thus far.

We have to be selective. There could be others that are better than Redmond that the staff likes more. Not sure, but it is possible.
