So far we've lost one in-state battle. No one else that has committed ATP had an offer or UT interest. Not a lot of top tier talent out there in the state. Coaches are gonna take the better player out of state first.

This staff landed every single instate recruit they wanted last year. No reason to think it will be different this year.

Agree, with limited space he has to be selective. I would not take an instate guy if I liked someone else better.

yeah, and after reading through this thread, he's also claimed to be a Vol fan and a Miami fan & UNC fan all of his life also!! Going by the latest info, he has a 'non comittable' offer from UT right now, is UT still considered the team to beat here? Kid is camping at dawgnite, not sure how I feel about him yet.

Exactly. Wanted, is the key word here. We want Jelks. Other than that, are we really sure we want anyone else than Kimbrow? Dawson maybe? Obviously the BK situation changed up a bit.

Alot of people seem to think that the staff was not in any hurry to take BK either... If at all.

Thanks! (I think/hope..) obviously I'm in late on Redmond's recruitment but it has a wierd vibe to it. This thread alone goes from 'VFL' to 'staff has moved on'. I've read everything from he'll commit on the spot if/when offered this weekend, to he's already a Vol silent. Kids these days.....

LOLLL Of course some people on here would think that. Some on here believe Tennessee is never simply out-recruited for a prospect that they want. They just choose to pass on everyone that goes elsewhere.

See the Geno Smith rumors yesterday after the Twitter comment he made.

I bet they take at least 2 maybe 3 when all is said and done with this class. When you consider the scheme Wilcox likes to run by having 5 DB's on the field with only 2 LB's in many alignments I dont see how they would ever go an entire recruiting class with only taking 1 DB.

I think it was talked about that they were only going to take 1 more + Orta and Loften, 3 total. So if Loften doesn't make it in (which it's highly unlikely he will) then they would take someone in his place.

Gotcha. Jeez I would not bother with Loften again unless he enrolls in a JUCO or prep school. Would be a waste IMO when you could get a DB in his place that could actually get into school. I still dont see how they wouldn't bring in at least 2 new guys at DB in this class including Orta and possibly Loften. We'll see I guess.

Hubbs hinted that Loften intended on enrolling either at JUCO or Prep in a last ditch effort to get into UT. Hubbs also said that it is very likely that January is his last chance. All indications are we will cut ties finally after January if he fails in his attempts to qualify again.

I'm not trashing or talking bad about the kid in any way, but if he was really serious about going to school, he should have went the Prep route after he missed the first time. He's been too long out of football and school really. I hope he gets it together, but I think his time to go to UT has come and gone a long time ago.
