13' PF Johnathan Williams III

Hubbs: This kid is from Dyer County, no one considers Newbern, TN to be Memphis. Most Memphians have never heard of Newbern, TN or have any idea what area of the state it's located in.

Nichols: private school kid from Eads (Memphis suburb; cruise around Germantown or Bartlett and ask the residents if they consider themselves to be Memphians).

JWIII: he's a Memphian

I know this, thus the reason I put it in quotations. They're from that area, especially Nichols and JW3, hubbs is thrown into that category because of being from west tn.

BTO, I haven't followed JWIII a lot b/c I thought we never had a chance, but can he play center? What's his game like?

JWIII can't play center, he probably can't play PF on the collegiate level. The kid is like 6'8 and 203lbs.

It'll be interesting to see how he's used if brought in. His game is compared to Lamar Odom, and both actually happen to be leftys. He gets that label point forward because he can handle the rock, and actually has more of a face up game than post up. At 6'8"/6'9" 210lbs, he doesn't have the typical size of a SEC C. It's intriguing to think of running him at the 4 or even possibly the 3 with the mismatches you could create, however I don't see him being at C. I actually think Nichols would probably see time at C before JW3 would.

If stokes returns my guess is you'll see stokes at the 5, with Nichols and jw3 at the 4, with Nichols getting a few minutes at the 5, and JW3 a few minutes at the 3. Lots of versatility with those 3 guys.

Sounds good.

So like a more athletic Ty Smith then?

Tyler smith was pretty athletic, I don't know that he'll be more athletic than him. As Orangelo just said, bosh/Odom type, he can probably play a few minutes at the 5, but most his minutes will be at the 3/4 position.

If he's looking for PT, he shouldn't look any further than here. Would almost certainly start - and it would be alongside a hell of a lineup if Stokes were to stay (I think he will)

He's quick and mobile enough to give trouble at the 3. I'd see him as a 4 though. Would be interesting if all the pieces fell into place....it could be the most successful season UT has ever had.

There was a note on Scout today saying Williams is hearing from VCU, Wisconsin, Virginia, St. Joseph, Hofstra, Fordham and Tennessee. I've heard his stock is falling, but that was an odd group of schools.

Link to that article?

I've also heard some rumblings of his stock falling a bit, he apparently wants to be a 3 rather than a 4 from what I've gathered. So it definitely appears UK will not offer which definitely puts UT in good position.

wow. Talk about lucking up if all the big boys back off and we steal this kid! So his stock is falling because he'd rather play the 3 and ppl feel he's better suited as a 4? I'd take that in a second!

I like the thought of him splitting time at both, and it seems CCM has the same idea as he's not backing off of him.

CCM loves the versatility in players and JW3 would definitely bring that to the table.

i do not care if his stock goes away because he wants to play the 3 instead of the 4 .because nichols plays the 4

I see jw3 has a versatility guy, which I'm sure is one reason CCM likes him. He can play the 3/4, and probably on occasion could slide to the 5 for limited minutes.

Just a little tidbit to pass along...

Jw3 plans to cut his list in September and commit around October.

I think that helps UT's chances.
