There is nothing wrong with waiting to make the best decision but I hope we are in a position to where we are running out of room in this class. I want this class to fill some big needs and load up in areas if we can.

There are a lot of questions about safety Cortez McDowell and as we've alluded to a number of times McDowell was all set to commit to Tennessee early last month before deciding against it at the last minute and opting to take more visits and wait it out until he made it back on campus.

Since then, though, a number of schools, including Ohio State, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Auburn have turned up their heat in their pursuit of McDowell. We still feel the Vols are sticking out the most here, but it's becoming a more fluid situation.

You have to wonder if the Berrys ramping up their interest with other DBs willing to pull the trigger if we may have cooled a bit.

And to think, didn't he almost commit during the O&W game? Or so we were lead to believe. Either way, kid is a baller and would love to have him. Just hope he doesn't get left in the dust by the other DB we are in on in.

Just knew there was more to him missing the O&W game than just a make up baseball game. The truth comes out. Syracuse eh? At least the kid really likes the color orange.

We have not cooled, we won't be full, and its not because we have better players coming. He flat out just slowed the process down. We still lead.

Jeebus, all the ridiculous speculation is annoying.

Also, there aren't many better safeties in this class. Less than a handful on his level.

There is NOTHING in these recent reports to suggest that he didn't choose to play in that game rather than visit. IIRC, he did in fact have a game. If a kid were committed to a team then blew an important game off to take a visit that was not necessary... that would bother me more than him not visiting.

Not worried. The kid is making a decision to be sure of all his options. Hubbs and Co. are clearly stating that we still lead comfortably. I enjoy other teams like tOSU getting in the game because it only proves the quality of the player.

Now, it doesn't sound like he's going to wait until NSD or an all-star game. But, if he does decide to wait that long, and he doesn't visit UT for a while, then there may be some cause for concern.

As others have said already, the kid wants to take things a little slower. This does not mean UT is "slow playing" him or anything like that. But feel free to speculate to no end.

Well it would have been so awesome if he had committed during the O&W game but looks like this is going to be a nail biter to the end.

Wonder if it has anything to do with number of safeties we are in on like berry, Wilson, maybe gaulden if corner doesn't work out etc.

Something has happened and its not just him slowing down the process. If he waits till Feb we could be very close to full or have our alotment of safety's and secondary guys. Not saying we will but its not impossible either.
