Most of those schools always try to steer their kids away from going to UT. I don't know why any coach would try to keep their kids from going to any school that offered them and they are interested in going to that school.

We tried to tell them things weren't all sunshine and ice tea with this one. It sucks because we need him but its time to start thinking if we did a good enough job with huertolo to get him even though we slow played him.

Bama buddy that usually has solid insight to what bama is doing says reed name hasnt even brought up. They have all eggs in Elam basket from his understanding.

Lol. I love when Gumps like yourself try to put words in mouth. Not going to recap this again. But your assertion that the Mississippi Community Colleges have an axe to grind with UT is unfounded. Do they steer kids to Ole Miss and MSU? Absolutely. But it has nothing to do with UT as much as receiving solids from the in state universities.

You cited Damien Jacobs as an example of this and he went to Florida. And his situation had more to do with him cutting ties from this schools then being influenced by them. Fact is, you don't even know what your argument is. You are all over the map. From I've seen you can't even string a coherent though muchless put together a well formed argument. Hope this call out went according to plan for you.

Now on to Jarran Reed, I hope Coach Thig's visit with Reed's parents accomplished any of these concerns that teams like Bama try to cause. If Jarran wants to maximize his playing time and showcase his skills Tennessee should be the place for him. If standing in a huddled mass on the sidelines with limited playing time is his goal, then he should give Bama a look.

It's really this simple


Knoxvillian thinks reed's juco coaches are an issue because its been rumored they have steered kids away from tenn in the past.

That's a plenty reasonable opinion IMO.

Perhaps that's why our momentum with this recruitment has certainly slowed

Thanks for putting his thoughts in a coherent format. I agree that pulling kids from the Mississippi Community colleges away from Ole Miss and MSU can be tough. But I think it helps that Jarran Reed's family is from the North Carolina area. I also think we have a superior staff recruiting Reed as opposed to who we had recruiting Autry. Truth be told, I'm more concerned about Bama as opposed to Ole Miss.

Tennessee clearly has to play the family angle if they want to land Reed and that is what they are doing. The coaches at his JC definitely steer players to certain schools and away from others so that is an issue Tennessee is always going to have to go up against at that JC. It does sound like he's probably Bama if they really want him though.

Good point on his family being from North Carolina.

Honestly I think we are 3rd. I just think we had our shot as its past. The visit has worn off and its an up hill battle from my seat

You still talking? Show me some evidence that the Mississippi Community college Damien Jacobs attended steered him to Florida then we will go from there. Because that was the crux of the original argument. Everything else has been random inconsistent thoughts that divert from that original assertion. If not, leave it be and move on.
