'14 OH SG Zach McCormick

Just to clarify: I saw Zach at UT's camp, where I thought he was one of the most impressive players and athletes on display. He moves well, handles the ball well, jumps well and - that day at least - shot the lights out from 3-point range. I did not see Zach perform at Peach Jam. I merely ran a quote saying he played well that I got from Andy Rines, program director of the Travelers AAU team Zach represents. I also pointed out that Zach had productive Peach Jam games against Howard Pulley (10 of 19 field goals, 20 points, 5 assists) and the Oakland Soldiers (6 of 11 field goals, 13 points, 4 assists).

Again, the only time I've seen the young man play was at UT's camp. The comment about his play at Peach Jam came from the director of his AAU team.

And FWIW the Howard Pulley team has Tyus Jones the number 2 player according to Rivals. He plays PG so McCormick was going up against him I'm guessing.

He's rated 88 overall on 247 which is same as Jordan Cornish and should put him around the 150 overall area. Not sure why he isn't in top 247.

Crystal ball up to 4 predictions. All UT. All submitted today.

This kid may be about to pull the trigger.

Jerry Meyer said McCormick will be ranked between 140-180 in their next update. Should ease some propels concerns with this offer, good evaluation by Martin & staff.

Talked with Zach McCormick tonight about his new Tennessee offer. As his first 'high-major' offer, it seems to have made the kind of big impression on him you'd expect. However, it doesn't appear to be a situation where a commitment is in the immediate future. The Vols are no doubt in a good spot as far as his interest, but he told me he plans to take at least a couple of official visits before making a decision.

He's also heard from several other programs in the aftermath of playing well in in Augusta last weekend. California and Vandy are two that have stepped things up in a hurry and look likely to offer.

He's someone who had a lot of high majors on the fence about him this summer, and after playing well at the Peach Jam--especially against five-star PG Tyus Jones--I don't think Tennessee will be the only 'big school' to get involved.

That had absolutely nothing to do with my post, I thought we were discussing your assumption that he wasn't very athletic?

Regardless of how athletic he is very small for basketball and not my choice for our PG position. Washpun was as athletic as you get but he couldn't play in the SEC. I know this guy is a far better shooter than Washpun but at 6'1" will he be able to guard anybody. If he becomes a Vol we'll find that out.

He's not small for PG. Washpun didn't have the skill to play in the SEC and it was a chance we took because of the situation we were in at the time. Watch the film on this kid. He can handle the ball IMO. Now it seems he's about to receive some interest from other big boys. Not to mention, he's teammates with 2105 target Cameron Justice.

WTF?

So you make one completely false statement about him being not very athletic, just to be found you're wrong. So then you move on to another dumb statement about how 6'1"-6'2" is now apparently too short for a college PG?

You realize Aaron Craft who is regarded as on of the best defensive PGs in college basketball is about the same measurables as McCormick?

Possibly. But I would use a whole sealant worth of stats rather than just a couple games in consecutive days.

:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

Makes me wonder what you do with your spare time that your phone would auto-type "sealant" over season.

Clearly you're going off skin color and not video

He has a dunk that was #1 on sportscenter as a high school junior...Not sure how much more athletic you want a 6'1" guy to be.

It was #5, but it was pretty nasty. Obviously only being 6'1 isnt a concern. lol

I post it on page 1 of this thread.

On the craft comparison I made earlier...wasn't craft a low rated guy? I pulled an old article and when he committed to Tennessee he picked them over Dayton, Miami (Ohio) and butler.

Just thought that was kinda interesting.
