'14 TN F Leron Black

Is there any tangible reason you guys are saying this? Just blind speculation?

I just have that feeling about him. The get mine, get to the league attitude. I may be way off.

If that's the case, I'd just soon him go somewhere else.......... Florida.

Honor student too!? Impressive. Hard for me to think of a kid who publically said his faith and his future coaches faith will be his ultimate deciding factor, can be a prima donna.

This is why I think we have a shot with this kid. We can say what we want about CCM, but if I'm a parent the number of coaches I would trust to look after and be an example for my kid, could fit on one hand. IMO

Black's parents apparently love Robert Kirby but that may not do it.

I didn't really say Adonis was a prima dona. Thomas is a great kid. I don't know Black personally. I think Thomas was all about the NBA last year. He took more shots than anyone on the team last year. I just think Black is similar. I don't see him as a outstanding team player. Has nothing to do with his faith and coaches faith. If someone thinks they're the guy on the team, they can be a prima donna. I may be wrong. Like I said, I don't know him, but to me, he seems to be about impressing people.

Fair enough.:eek:k:

FWIW..........Jerry Meyer and others at 247 are predicting Black to Illinois now.

We're probably 3rd at best in this. Florida, IU and Illinois/UT.

Florida is actually no longer the leader apparently, and supposedly not really even in contention anymore. There seems to be a lot of signs pointing to Illinois and that seems to now be the popular pick.

I guess you can't get mad at our coaches for trying, but I really hope pursuing Black doesn't ultimately end up costing us London or Turman.

Hmm that would be better than the SEC but I agree. So it's Looney Black London and Turman you think?

2 out any of those 4 and I'm really happy going forward. Probably young but it's worth the growing pains.

Yup. I'm sure the usual Nancy's will be around, but if we finish with Turman and London not sure how you can't be pleased. That's 2 top 100 players, and 3 top 150 players...and depending on your service of choice all 5 are 4* by one service or another. That class would likely be top 15 and would be a great building block for the future IMO...

As you mention 14-15 would be young, but lots of potential on that roster:

PG: Thompson/ Austin
SG: Hubbs/ Cornish
SF: Richardson/ London
F: Moore/ Cofer/ Davis/ Reese
C: Turman/ Ndiaye

Absolutely. I'm excited man. We've set ourselves up nice with multiple recruits and learned from mistakes from last year. I'm still hoping for Looney, but if not I would love Turman and London.

Switch Austin/Thompson, put Moore in London's spot, and Cofer as the starter with Davis backing up. Also, Q would be here over Reese IMO

I agree with you on Ausrin being the starter, but I posted something similar last week and was informed I shouldn't expect non 5* freshman to make immediate impacts...so for arguements sake I did it that way lol.

With Moore, I actually had it the way you just said, but that would be 3 freshman starters which could be a little hairy lol, so that's why I had Moore starting.

As for Q, in that scenario we would be taking 5 and so both are probably still here, just didn't see where to really put Q so I left him off as I don't see him contributing, probably could've done the same with Reese too though lol.

Nah, I just said that non-5* freshman are generally a mixed-bag and relying on them too heavily isn't a good idea. Austin may make an impact. He may not. We'll see. I'd personally bet on Thompson being the starter, at least initially.

@JohnMartinCA: BREAKING: 2014 WSHS F Leron Black has eliminated Memphis and Florida. Down to Illinois, Baylor, Indiana, UT. Story: Recruiting Insider: Top 25 prospect Leron Black eliminates Memphis, Florida from list of potential schools » The Commercial Appeal

Ouch, Pastner whiffing on 2 top 50 Memphis kids in the same year? I will say Illinois is definitely the favorite, but this may honestly be one to watch. The way Leron is nobody knows what he's going to do, get him and momma on campus and anything is possible.
