'14 TN OL/DL Charles Mosley (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Most do, he's in the extreme minority! Look how loyal and huge our fan base is now. Just wait until its back to normal. They just stick out right now. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. He will disappear soon!

My wife told me the other day u wear more Tn.stuff now than u did back when they were winning all the time.I told her this. A true Tn.fan supports the Vols even more when they are down its easy to jump on when every thing is going good.
My motto has always been Tn. orange and white. These colors dont run and they dont hide.

I have to know this so please explain what you mean by contribute. I have to assume you do not mean posting on a fan forum or just by chance you were born in a state actually constitutes a contribution.

Easy. None of us made any plays to help the teams we cheer for win or lose any games. So any smug behavior by any fan base is laughable and should be treated as such. Never mentioned anything about what I highlighted in bold in your above post.

You just don't get it. Yes, those people are the same as you if they are from NC, bandwagon fans for UT. If its your home team then its a fair weather fan. However, just because you, supposedly, stayed a loyal bandwagon fan during the down years of bamer. You're still a bandwagon fan, you're just a loyal bandwagon fan! What you really don't understand is the passion in pulling for what's yours, your home! It's like pulling for the USA in the Olympics! It's pride you are born with! You chose to be a traitor, and yes I know everybody has them, but there is a reason your in the minority. Most people love their home. What makes it worse is people like you who act like you have accomplished something by being a bandwagon fan. It's not your team so nobody cares what you think. I can tolerate a real bama fan pulling for their home team. Get a life and stay on the bama boards!

100% Right on!

Same here! I took our success for granted! I have become a bigger fan these last 5 years! I have bought more gear and been more vocal! That's why I can't wait until we are all the way back. This fan base will return stronger and louder than ever!

Well according to one of the posters above I will tell my mother and sister to stop pulling for UT since neither went to UT nor are from the state. Even though my mother has been pulling for UT as long as I can remember and she is from Maryland and my sister has always pulled for UT since she was little and she was born in NC.

The fact is a lot of people like different schools for whatever reason whether they went there or not. And every fan base has those fans when a team starts winning they become fans. If you sport the colors in the down years you are a fan no matter your background in my book.

Well at least your mother and sister are smarter than you! :)

No one made a "you mean your mom and sister are different people" joke?

The fans have a huge impact on everything around the program. Every game, especially in Neyland (why else do we make such a big deal about it), the fans have a huge impact on. The fans are what make a program. Just listen to bUTch. Not to be cliche, but he gets it!!!

Disagree to an extent. It's not that black and white. I think family influence is a factor that you didn't think about. For example, I was born and raised in Florida. My mother played in the marching band at UT when she attended so naturally the house was decked out in Vols stuff. I did not go to Tennessee due to out of state tuition costs. Was about to accept to live in Gibbs when I made a mature decision and stayed in state. I follow the Vols, cheer for them, call them mine and support them in many ways.

Am I a bandwagoner because I didn't live in Tennessee? No. I have a family connection. And if I remember right, TW does too... with an uncle or something. The point is that it is pretty pompous to think its black and white because there are many acceptable common scenarios that go against your logic. I just provided one scenario.

Doesn't TW like UNC hoops? So what gives there? Family ties or just easier to cheer for a winner? Serious question.

This I agree with. Many people in WNC are UT fans because they are the closet top CFB program over the years and way before cable who they grew up watching on TV.

According to the other poster I guess all the Braves fans are bandwagon fans as well or maybe he is to young to remember that the only baseball team in the south at one time was the Braves and hence why so many people outside of the state of GA are Braves fans.

Good post. I wasn't born in TN either, my family relocated there when I was in middle school though. And I didn't really become a huge UT fan until I went to school there. But I've been bleeding orange ever since.

You are correct, utvols88, being a fan isn't always black and white. Just like recruiting :)

I became a UT fan from watching Bill Dance fishing TV show as a kid before I ever knew anything about the school.

The Top247 member adds that he’s looking to make a commitment during the fall.

“It would be sometime during the fall. Either during the season or after. If I commit to a school, that’s going to be where I’m going. There won’t be a decommitment, changing my mind, or stuff like that.”

Mosley, who has a grade of 94 from 247Sports, ranks as the no. 116 overall prospect and no. 4 rising senior in the state of Tennessee

No UNC football team?

I go to a few games but the ACC is not really what I call good football. I grew up playing football among other sports and just love hard hitting teams. The funny part in WNC growing there were more SEC games on TV than ACC.

Just pulling yours chain a little.

Not a high enough winning %.

I know a lot of UT alums who are die hard Tennessee football fans and die hard UK basketball fans.

(Yes, I am kidding).

:)

The sad part is that I can make the above statement and not be kidding. I've had fans like this tell me they just want to feel involved come tournament time. Also tells me how they probably handle difficult situations in life.

Then why don't you follow their football program? Just seems pretty convenient to pick and choose teams to cheer for who happen to be at the top of their sport. I'd imagine its a pretty hollow feeling as well.

I was 8 when I started following CFB(UA), I went to UNC many years later. Long time in between. I guess I could also pull for Cal since I am an alum there as well. Just because you decide a place is the best place for your education does not mean you become a fan of their sports as well as a requirement.

How many people on this board were born in TN or went to school at UT? By many on here they are not true fans either.

I can honestly say if I had went to Delaware St, I'd be the lone guy sitting on the DS message board.

"Go Hornets".

I got instate tuition at the time when I got accepted to Haas and was not about to turn that down. And when I moved back to NC, UNC was a no brainer for grad school.
