'14 TN OL/DL Charles Mosley (UT Signee 2/5/14)

It's pretty well known that Dooley ignored Memphis. Dooley burned a lot of bridges, but none more than the ones in Memphis with the alumni base and high school coaches. Look at Petera Wilson and Kimbrow. Look at the altercation between Dooley and TennStud.

In the 3 years of Dooley, LSU, Bama and Ole Miss basically got who they wanted without any fight from Tennessee.

I think Mosley will be a barometer of how Tennessee is perceived in west Tennessee. Where are we in terms of locking down the state? I'm not talking about Jackson because it's always been a Tennessee stronghold. I'm talking about Memphis and the surrounding counties: places like Covington, Brighton, and Fayette County where people have grown up in Tennessee and have chosen to where a Bama hat from 2009-2013 and a Florida hat from 2005-2008.

Two things. 1) who is TennStud? And 2) what is this altercation of which you speak?

TennStud is a long time poster on the Sount TN message board. He has deep ties into the memphis area and knows just about everyone who has anything to do with football in the area, especially HS coaches. He can be a character at times. Holds alot of football parties and has connections to alot of the UT football team.

Being a TN kid, I'll take it. I would like to see him get a try at DT 1st. Ideally losing about 15-20lbs. Then if that does not fit him, I would move him to the OL. Good pick up as he could possibly help in several spots.

He will project as a DT here. I think that once he gets on a weight regiment and proper training along with some great coaching on techinque he will be a force on the field

I tend to agree, however, I don't think the bridges will be rebuilt so quickly and Mosley will indicate Jones' overall influence in West TN.

He is Roy Adams and is a former UT booster. I say former because the program had to distance themselves from him over some recruiting irregularities a good while ago. He is also the person who provided a lot of info for the Alabama money being passed to Memphis players and coaches. He asked Dooley something at a UT function that Dooley didn't like too much although the folks at the functions thought Roy was way out of line. He really likes to be the center of attention.

Lol at y'all who act like Memphis is not a part of Tennessee and then expect kids to pick UT from Memphis because they are "in state". No wonder kids and people from Memphis don't want to play for UT and hate UT as much as some of y'all clown on them.

I've lived in Knoxville the past 5 years and I'm moving down to Memphis for grad school. I grew up around the area so I guess I appreciate what Memphis has to offer. Its a unique place with a lot of good things going on. I believe Butch is the person who can build back these relationships.

At the Big Orange Caravan in 2012 in Memphis, he asked Dooley why he didn't recruit Memphis players. He said that Dooley had burned bridges with Memphis coaches. He basically called Dooley out for Dooley being Dooley.

To be honest, a lot of kids in Memphis are not worth recruiting. Just look at all the recent issues with recruits that have come out of that area. Fake transcripts, grade tampering, handlers, theft cases, all sorts of stuff. I'm not saying every kid, but there have been several cases recently with some pretty high profile kids. I fully understand why some coaches choose to seek out talent elsewhere. If a kid is doing the work in the classroom, staying out of trouble, and does not have a person calling the shots who is out to get what they can get for themselves, I am fine with recruiting them. Hopefully the situations in Memphis change in the future for the kids trying to get to college from the area.

What you mentioned goes on in plenty of other places, than just "Memphis"

There's nothing more ironic than seeing some neck from Bumf*** County, TN talking s*** about Memphis.

Born in Memphis, most of my family is from the area. All are Vol fans besides a few Arkansas fans.

Memphis really is diverse in its fantasticism though. Glad I got the good genes from that area :)

That's exactly what the rest of the SEC wants you to believe.
