'14 TN OL/DL Charles Mosley (UT Signee 2/5/14)

If we could trim them down to 320 or so, where Hayneworth and Henderson played, they could be players (and this s&c staff can do it).

On the 2001 roster, it shows Henderson at 6'7" 290 and Haynesworth at 6'6" 310.

I think guys like Mosley and Elam should be in the 310 range. There are very few reasons for a 4-3 DT to weigh more than 310. Being 6'8" with a massive frame is one of them (McCullers).

I do think if McCullers had a full 4 years he would leave at about 320 lbs.

Get Mosley down to 310-315 and Barnett up to 290-295 and we would be good to go.

Even getting Mosley down between 315-325 would be a marvelous feat. I've been vocal about not really wanting him but if he can cut 40 lbs I think he would be a force at NT with a quick guy like Barnett or Carr next to him.

I think it will take an act of god to keep Carr under 300 lbs. He is close to 300 right now and is has a lot of muscle growth potential.

I agree. I am thinking he gets up to around 305-310 but keeps his quickness and athleticism.

If Mosley is around 345, getting to 315 should not be hard at all considering the bad weight he carries. Just requires some discipline. If the kid wants to play at the next level, he will have to show he wants it.

Allen Carson is an example of the risk you take with a player who has too much bad weight. All the training and nutritional plans in the world won't work if you don't want to put forth the effort in the times when it counts (training & table).

Carson has other issues. As a FR he was listed on the roster as 6'2" 325 lbs which means that upon arriving at UT he was sent to the super secret dungeon located 150 feet beneath Neyland to be stretched on the rack. I guess the 2" was supposed to make him look like a higher rated player or something. Rivals had him listed at 6'0" 327 lbs. Anyway, after spending his first year on the hill he shrunk enough to give back 1/2 of the total he had gained in the original stretching, so he was down to 6'1" and 323 lbs on last years roster. The roster today lists him all the way back down to 6'0" and 312 lbs, meaning it's time to send him back to the rack for re-stretching.

Hahaha. Is this also where Teague was timed at 4.7. (In the 30 yard dash?)

Fortenberry stops short to say he thinks he ends up at UT but does say we have some really good momentum. Alabama was first to offer so closing well and getting him on campus again is important.

Carson wasn't working with the new S&C staff either. I believe in these guys. And anyone not willing to work, def wouldn't commit to a team that runs 52 100s

Carson was one of those Dooley reaches. I sincerely hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt he will ever be an SEC caliber player no matter how hard he works or what kind of shape he is in. Mosely may have some bad weight at this point, but his ceiling is MUCH higher IMO.

Nice. You have to think the staff is telling him they are close to filling up and it may be a race for the first few to jump on board.

Yup. I'd look for Barnett to commit sometime this month as well. And it sounds like we have a real shot at landing Lambert.
