'14 TN OL/DL Charles Mosley (UT Signee 2/5/14)

That's a logical explanation until you realize he hasn't taken any visits over the past 5-6 wks. That was a time frame where he said he was going to take visits. He didn't and only visited us.

He visited Ole Miss during that timeframe. He has also repeatedly said he wants to see other schools but didn't know if he would make it before his announcement date of October 4th. If you remember he was gonna try to come to a Tennessee game a couple weeks ago and couldn't find a ride, maybe that's happened a few times when he's planned to visit other schools over the last month.

I think it is actually bama who has been slow playing him. IMO he said we lead because of the bama slow play. I may be way off, it's just how I think it has played out. Ole saban probably kissed him in his ear a little via a phone call and talked him into waiting. I think he has always had bama as his #1, he just got frustrated by the slow play tactics and named UT his new leader. IMO if bama is willing to take him, he goes. If they pass, he will be a Vol unless we have filled up at DT before then.

Didn't he go to ole miss in middle August??

Edit: he went on August 24th just before we expected a decision.

Very possible

To be completely honest I think this is what's going on but its possible we are slow playing as well.

Last week, which would fall into the 6 week timeline you mentioned. The rest of my post still stands as well.

He has been to ole miss twice??

I think you meant the last week of August. It was the 24th not the last week.

He has had 5 football Saturdays to take these free trips you guys are saying he wants to take. He has only visited one place since the season started and that's us.

Isn't that a little odd for a kid saying he wants to take visits?

He has visited somewhere within the last 6 weeks, which you said he hadn't, that was my point.

Free trips? Unofficial visits aren't free trips, you know that.

And no I don't find it that odd. He's a high school kid living way out in west Tennessee. I'm guessing you have no idea what his family situation is, or his family's budget, right? I know a lot of high school kids who's parents couldn't afford to send them all over the southeast every weekend.

Again, unless you know the kid and know what he is doing, it is idiotic to post negative speculative BS about him on public message boards that are associated with the University of Tennessee.

I'm pretty sure the coaches know better than anybody here what we need and don't need on the team. If he is not working hard, we will stop recruiting him. Until he commits to another school you have to assume he is being recruited by people who know more than you do.

I am not saying that they have stopped recruiting him. I just stated IMO, that it would not hurt my feelings if he chose to go elsewhere, or if they did stop recruiting him. I am passionate about UT football, and I want anyone that wears the Orange and White to give everything they have for UT. If he is that guy, I definitely want him on the team, but IMO, he has bad habits. I may end up being wrong, or I may end up being correct. If I am wrong, I hope he is the next John Henderson and plays for UT.

It's been 40 days since he took a visit anywhere but here. He said after visiting ole miss on 8/24 he needed time to take more visits but would announce on 10/4(6 wks later).

He took zero visits besides here in that timeframe.

Now he needs more time for more visits when he had 6wks to do just that and didnt. Yes that's plenty odd considering he has 5 OVs he could have used during that timeframe.

I thought Moseley was talking about OVs, in which case, are pretty much free trips, when he made the delay on his first semi-scheduled announcement.

I don't think players can take official visits until they start their senior season & that's the same time high school football season starts. It must be difficult to take visits with games on Friday's. I just think you are over analyzing the fact he hasn't taken trips yet to other schools.

Correct on when OVs can happen but yes many kids are taking them now. If he didn't plan to take any visits then why state he was going to announce on 10/4??

Like I said, and I'm guessing since you avoided it I was correct in my assumption, you don't know the kids situation. He wanted to visit Tennessee a couple weeks back and couldn't find a ride, so he had to stay home. How do you know this hasn't happened other times when he was planning to trip and see the other schools on his list? Not every kid has parents who can afford to take off from work 6 consecutive weekends, drive 1000+ miles over the course of 2 days times 6 times, stay in a hotel 6 weekends straight, and eat out for 6 weekends in a row.

And as already pointed out he couldn't OV until school started, how many weekends has be had since school started that he had no football practice/game?

You may find it odd, but personally I find it odd that you find it odd.

I find it odd that no other schools he is considering got him to OV when he is saying he is going to make a decision on 10/4. I certainly understand UOVs and reasons why they can't happen.

I know one thing. If a recruit Is announcing on a certain date and we want them our staff is working hard to make OVs happen before that date.

Not taking visits isnt odd at all but saying he was going to and then not is the alarming part to me.

Something is up and IMO its one of two things.

We are slow playing or he is waiting on Bama.

From reading about Mosely, I think this post is 100% spot on.

I think he's a fallback option for alabama, and they're just waiting to see if they need him or not.

Bruin, you drive me up a wall.

Please please please keep in mind that we're dealing with 16/17 year old kids who say and do things on a whim. I am a youth sponsor for a church, and I mentor 20+ high schoolers a week, and let me confirm that every single one of them says something, then forgets it the next day. I don't know Mosley's intentions or plan, but I can bet he said something he believed to be true at the time.

Remember when Chris Weatherd was going to go to Texas A&M for a visit and everybody freaked out? He didn't go.

Remember when Cortez McDowell skipped the O&W game for a baseball game, and everybody freaked out? He committed months later and is solid as a rock.

My point is a lot of people here have not quite been able to figure out how to follow recruiting, and YOU are the worst of the lot. If you're going to follow recruiting and keep your sanity, you HAVE to understand that things change so incredibly quickly, both good and bad. In April, Truitt "was a Vol lock" and Lambert wasn't on our radar. Now what?

Just please, for YOUR sake (and mine, seriously), calm the fudge down.

I appreciate your work with our youth. If only I had any experience working with recruiting age kids I might be qualified to speculate on recruiting in the recruiting forums. My apologies.
