'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Although I don't like to discuss the game in a recruits thread, I still wish I could give this more than one like!

Worley had his best receiver in man coverage with position on the the DB. Like usual, the sieve of an OL has the DL barreling down on Worley. Like he has all year, Worley is forced to make a throw under duress if UT is to have any offense at all. When Worley releases the ball, North has position. Worley throws the ball and North gets tripped by the DB who then makes a great play on the ball since North is now out of the way. Without the trip no way the DB makes the interception.

My real question was why no interference call?

Because North fell down. He didn't get tripped.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. First of all, no way that was PI; North just tripped over his own feet. At worst he tripped over VH3's feet, which is incidental contact. Second, North did have position, but only if the ball is thrown away from him and into the EZ, and that wasn't the case. The ball was underthrown (albeit because of the blitz), but a trailing DB is almost always going to have position on an underthrown ball because he can slip inside (in front) of the WR. The DB was in the best position to make that catch because of the underthrow, slip or not. If North doesn't slip and fall the ball lands behind him and at his feet. How is he in any better position to catch it then?

Should have threw it away to live another day. You can't make that throw on 1st down in redzone

Even taking a sack is ok there because you at least keep the ball. He didn't really have a chance to throw it away (he was in the pocket still), but he could have eaten a sack, and kept the ball.

Imo Jmo, no matter what position he ends up playing at UT he's gonna redshirt his first year. And after a year in our S&C program he addes about 15-30 pounds. I think he's currently anywhere from 240-255lb, just guessing from his different profles. so if his frame lets him add alot of weight then he becomes a LT. If he can only get to the 260-270 range then he stays a SDE.

But Imo with the current freshman DE's we have plus the ones we're bring in. I think the staff thinks they can beef him up and put him at Tackle.

At 6-6 he should have good reach, if he has quick feet he may be the steal of the class.

VHIII got a grab in on the break but after that he didnt touch North. North lost his footing when he tried to come back for the ball that was thrown short. Worley made a bad throw from his back foot falling backwards or else it would have been a touchdown if he hits him in stride.

Is there talk of Dylan moving to the OL or am I thinking of someone else?

Right now, with the way we are still after DE's (Walker, Phillips and Taylor who just committed) I say it is a pretty educated guess that the staff is thinking they may already have a future OT committed. Unfortunately, it will probably take Dylan a couple years to bulk up which is a problem because we need help quicker than that.

JMO that some of the DE's will move to LB. OL is a glaring weakness now but who knows what might happen if Mosley was playing with Robertson. If we take another OT he would have to be of high caliber. Cant just take anyone. Have to have the right one that can be coached on how to play the position in this offense. Personally I think CB is the biggest need but will take any great player at this point.

Thanks.

Unless we switch to a 3-4 defense then you will not see any Defensive Ends switch to LB. That creates a slower defense. Thigpen was quoted today as saying that he may recruit more large high school safeties to move to LB to get more speed on the field.

FWIW he went from 235 to over 250 between his commitment to UT and now - but could he add 35-40 lbs in another year? I've seen him play and I keep thinking this young man could be Erik Fisher part deaux with his ahtleticism. Fisher was 225 the day he set foot on the CM campus.

Just looked back at 2014 and we only took 3 DE and I thought we took like seven. So with this years and last years crop of DE I don't see a need to move any of them to LB unless LB depth becomes an issue. I was just thinking that so many DE this class and only 1 LB that it could happen. What would you consider a large safety? Or Who would you consider a large safety in the SEC that could play LB. But YES Large, Fast Hard Hitting safety at LB. We need to find Him.

Absolutely, both interceptions were on 1st down IIRC. Drove me bat___ crazy.

Me too it wasn't a good call IMO against a top DC like muschamp. i can remember 3 times off hand that we went to that misdirection play action pass after a turnover in redzone. It worked twice against west ky I think last yr and then either the Utah st or arky st game so you know Florida was prepared for it and they knew immediately. Worley throws it away and we got 2 more downs and least 3 game winning pts

According to 247, Jackson will be taking an OV to LSU in the very near future.

Dang.

I heard the rumors of him looking around but never thought it would get this far.

I think some teams are getting his and his families' head about us moving him to OT.

Still think Vol in the end.

Chavis has not backed off and recruited him harder than he ever recruited his entire time at UT.

If hes looking around it has to mean hes definitely letting the OT stuff sink in. The kid wants to play DE plain and simple.

I don't understand that.

other than QB, OT is highest paid position in the pro's. Why would he or his family be against that move?

LSU currently has 0 DL committed and we have 6. This may also be in play here in his mind.
