'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Would be a loss no doubt but Jackson isn't a make or break prospect.

What really hurts here is losing a kid from your own backyard and from a school that has several prospects in coming years.

Maryville has two stud 2017 linebackers (one is T.D. Blackmon. Forget the other) who are supposed to be sec caliber backers.

Do the young guys see Jackson leave and thing they have to do the same?

IMHO I just don't see him leaving his back yard due to a position change. If he does, so be it, but you would think a Tennessee kid would be willing to give his all to help restore his home state's institution back to prominence.

Is Jackson not originally from Illinois or something? I thought he was only in Knoxville due to his dad's job.

I doubt it. Not many kids come out of Maryville and go big time. Aaron Douglas, Robinette and Tyler Maples are the only 3 I can think of that grew up here.
Also T.D. Is good but, I'm not sure if he's SEC good.

Not worried honestly. I'd love to have him but if he wants to go elsewhere he will be replaced by someone as good or better.

I don't think it's a case of who's better or not, I think it comes down to the fact that we see him projecting better as a OL prospect than on defense.

You mean like Barnett needed to? Jackson is ALREADY SEC DE size. Good grief, folks.

Yeah, you're right. Pretty much every true freshman lineman is ready to come in and start right away. As long as they have the height and weight, there really isn't anything else to it. All this business about 18-year-olds needing time to develop before they can compete against 21-year-olds gets blown WAAAAAAYYY out of proportion.

LSU had one official visitor on campus this past weekend, and it was three-star Tennessee commit Dylan Jackson. Jackson has been committed to the Vols since January, but an offer from LSU in August definitely caught his attention. With the defensive line still being a major priority in this class for the Tigers, Jackson has suddenly become a big target for LSU and Coach John Chavis. Coach Butch Jones has done an amazing recruiting job at Tennessee, so we will see what he can do to solidify Jackson to the Vols. This will be an interesting battle.

Per Woody Wommack, Stanford is more of a threat to steal Jackson than LSU. LSU is wanting 6 DL in this class, so they are on the hunt. LSU is using the Jashon Robertson deal as an example to help them.

What deal? Jashon was open to paying on either side of the ball.

Lol. So Jackson is scared of being converted to a Olineman and potentially starting as a true freshman. Yeah if so, pass.

Calm down daddy, no one said he's scared or that he'll even decommit. He has some decisions to make, and either way we will be ok. Worst case scenario we upgrade here.

I'm always calm. I've followed this for way to many years to still be alive if I were as high strung as half of the posters on here.

I never said Barnett needed to redshirt. No clue what Barnett and Jackson have to do with each other. I always said on this board that Barnett was a stud and would make an impact as a freshman. I didn't realize it would be like it has been but figured more as a backup in spurts.

Jackson may be good but he is nowhere near the athlete Barnett is. Two different style of players. Two different scenarios. Jackson would def redshirt at DE. Who is he going to play over? Not Maggit, Vereen, Barnett, Lewis or Hendrix... There is nothing wrong with red shirting. We need to start being able to redshirt most of our freshman
