'17 MS TE Chase Rogers (Former UT commit)

I am happy for him and know how excited he is to get this offer. I think his is very talented. Just a hard for me to understand how he is rated baically the same as Chase with only 7 rec for 101yds as a TE compared to Chase 207 rec. 3539 yds and 43 tds... The system is flawed.. I think he should be rated at this level but Chase should be a 4star
Recruiting services can be political. I wouldn't put too much stock into them. Some here love seeing more stars. Really gets them going

I'm sorry but for you to say the communication is the reason seems a bit suspect to me. It's odd y'all open recruitment back up after another TE commits. Your son is probably the star TE but we have to have back ups for crying out loud. The Brown kid is probably a back up type player. I just hope nobody got butthurt because Butch "lied" about only taking one TE this class. Maybe he knows some other TE's are leaving after this season and needs bodies. With everything going on the coaches probably don't have time to respond quickly to every message from a recruits parent. I hope your son stays with his commitment, as I believe he'll be a star here. These are just my honest opinions, since this is a message board. Flame away

Well kids that are 4 stars never get pushed out because they help with recruiting ratings. 3stars have a tougher road.

I am over the talk about it. Going to back off both sites for a few weeks and regroup. I have faith that God will show us the way and if Tennessee is lucky enough to hold Chase than so be it... Not going to let it consume us any longer... Thanks for all the great support!

He's already stated why, the coaches aren't responding to them. He texted Scott if they should expect worried and Scott hasn't responded. He see the writing on the all and I don't blame him.

I don't post much but I wanted to say it has been a pleasure reading your posts. It's given some insights into a world I will never experience and it is fun to read your thoughts and opinions on the matter. Where ever Chase goes a will cheer for him and I hope to be cheering for him 10 years down the road in the big time. You seem like a great father and wish you both nothing but the best. If you're ever in Orlando I'll will buy you a beer.

So tenn coaches are no longer communicating with Rogers?

Is that what I am understanding here?

I'd like to think if the coaches decide to move on from a committed guy they would let them know immediately. Unfortunately it seems that's not the case.

"We stopped calling so they should get the hint".

That's how I have understood it.

To put a cap on this subject. They have been in contact with Chase but it has slowed down. Last week when Scott was to be St Chase's game was a red flag for us to protect our interest. Red flag 2 is not responding to not one but 2 text. Red flag 3 is taking another TE which I think is a good move. A really good TE adds to the offense. Let's make it clear. We are not giving up on Tenn, just going to protect our position with other options. LSU looks like our next option soon... If me posting on here bothers the coaches. All they have to do is tell me.. It's all in communication.. Thanks again!

But but the staff is doing them a favor. I mean we got them attention and told them at the start of this they had a conditional offer.

What writing? That they need bodies so they took a commitment from a lesser talent then Chase? We've had a lot go on recently, I'm sure Coach Scott has been very busy.

Too busy to return a text? They are constantly texting recruits that they want. A text from Dad that says "Hey coach, haven't heard from you. You've accepted commitment from another TE, should we be worried?" Deserves a response IMO. The silence is deafening here.

Exactly!!

You bet your ass Cam Akers dad gets a text back... Like I said if Tenn wants Chase they better step up because the excitement is leaving fast.

Perhaps you should tell the coaches that instead of the entire word that has access to this.

If you have done that then I apologize in advance

Isn't that why you're here? To get access and knowledge especially from reliable sources? I know I do.

While family members posting sometimes can cause backlash, Chase's father is not stepping over boundaries here IMO. If Butch promised he would be the only TE in the class and then you take a commit from another TE, it's all fair game then.

Hope Chase stays.

This doesn't explain/excuse the lack of communication, and in fact, it only makes it all the more puzzling, but I have wondered all along how Tennessee's coaches see Chase fitting in at Tennessee.

At 6-3, 238, with his receiving prowess and admitted weakness in the blocking aspect, is he not basically a "big" WR? Perhaps they feel he isn't athletic enough to play WR at the SEC level and not big enough or a good enough blocker to play TE in their system. From the time of his commitment, he seemed like a tweener to me for this system. That isn't a knock on Chase. He just didn't seem to fit our TE "profile".

Again, those developing questions don't excuse the lack of communication, and like I said, it makes it even stranger to not be communicating those concerns unless they just wanted to keep him on the line until they find a replacement (a sadly harsh but very real reality every year).

Well Chris, the guy we took today is 6'4" 220 that went from QB to TE just this year. Can't imagine is blocking skills is all that either.

Perhaps they view him as more athletic than Chase though? A higher ceiling given how raw he is at the position? More frame to add weight and develop as a blocker and/or receiver?

Just throwing some possibilities out there. Like I said, it's puzzling.
