2008 Titans

Scaife was our leading reciever this past season if I remember correctly. What other WR you want them to go get?

He is a receiver. If we let him go who else could we pick up in that position? Signing him to this deal will in no way shape or form have any bearing on whether or not we have the money for a receiver.

Meant a WR. I just don't see him as our franchise TE, at all. You franchise playmakers, clearly Scaife isn't one. He's now in the top 5 highest paid players for the TE spot in the league...he has nothing to show for it at all. He was a 6th round pick for a reason...

They're not gonna spend the money for Boldin and there's no reason to bring another WR in who can't get separation, like Harrison.

They're screwed.

Without haynesworth....really?

I mean the line will be nowhere near as dominating and the new DC will have to have some LB blitzes now, but the defense was pretty solid as a whole last year, it wasnt just him. Their defense will take a bit of a step down but it's not going to be a major one really

That is exactly what everyone thought about them this past year though.
Really? I thought they could at the very least match the 10 they won in '07, and that was before they lucked out with Young being sidelined for pretty much the entire season.

The national media did not have them as a serious contender IIRC. My thoughts were they could do as well as 10 wins with 8 to 9 being most likely.

I just don't think the loss of Haynesworth will mean as much to the team as many think. It will force us to use the blitz a little more but the D-line is pretty solid even without him.

Hopefully the rest of the defense has progressed to the point that this won't be a team killer (as far as performance), but I can't help but remember how dreadful the defense was in the three games he missed late in the 2007 season.

Those players have progressed, not to mention the addition of a couple of young players who made big contribution in their rookie season last year.

I would think the Titans will now draft a DT in the 1st rd. will Fili Moala (6'3,295) Southern California still be around at #30?

So another year without a play making WR!

I'm not terribly upset over not signing Big Al... that's a lot of money for a DT. Good for him finally cashing in though. This should, SHOULD, put the Titans in pretty good position to spend some money on some offensive weapons. If the Titans front office is serious about competing, it's time to step up and spend some of that money that have under the cap. There are some WR's out there available and it's time to go after them.

Yeah, as I said in another part of VN, Nate Washington appears to be just a few phone calls away. I can see the Super Bowl tickets in my hands now! :p

I'm not that upset either but if it was me and it came down to signing big Al or Collins I would have signed Haynesworth because I'm not convinced that Kerry can/will have another year like last season.

It just means they'll draft best value, so odds are the CB from vandy, the DE from GT, a LB or OT or something, or possibly Ayers if his workouts and such keep going so well

They'll do good to win eight games next year, imo.

They all said that last year...or somewhere around 6-7 wins.

I think the Pitt. game showed that the defense had progressed as a whole even if it was only one game, as they had been run/passed all over the previous year in the three games he wasnt there

That being said, the team won't be nearly as dominate as they were in the front four, so the defense will slide a little but shouldnt be too much....

Course I've also had the feeling earlier that after 3 years of doing better than called for and 2 years of playoffs, the teams due for a bad year by injuries or something too...hope not though
