He is a receiver. If we let him go who else could we pick up in that position? Signing him to this deal will in no way shape or form have any bearing on whether or not we have the money for a receiver.
They're screwed.
Really? I thought they could at the very least match the 10 they won in '07, and that was before they lucked out with Young being sidelined for pretty much the entire season.
Hopefully the rest of the defense has progressed to the point that this won't be a team killer (as far as performance), but I can't help but remember how dreadful the defense was in the three games he missed late in the 2007 season.
I'm not terribly upset over not signing Big Al... that's a lot of money for a DT. Good for him finally cashing in though. This should, SHOULD, put the Titans in pretty good position to spend some money on some offensive weapons. If the Titans front office is serious about competing, it's time to step up and spend some of that money that have under the cap. There are some WR's out there available and it's time to go after them.
I'm not that upset either but if it was me and it came down to signing big Al or Collins I would have signed Haynesworth because I'm not convinced that Kerry can/will have another year like last season.I'm not terribly upset over not signing Big Al... that's a lot of money for a DT. I would think the Titans will now draft a DT in the 1st rd. will Fili Moala (6'3,295) Southern California still be around at #30?
So another year without a play making WR!
They'll do good to win eight games next year, imo.
