Vlad to the Rangers. I once witnessed him throw a ball about 315 ft to home plate on one bounce in Olympic Stadium in front of maybe 1000 fans.

If chris davis hits the ball like he can (or at all, a.k.a. not the strikeouts).. and Justin Smoak is Mark Teixeira reborn (very well could be)... Vlad will need to really perform to compete with this youth. Plus, if Hamilton's too hurt to play in the field everyday, there is your designated hitter. I love the guy, though.

Not worth it in my opinion. Not at all.

Cardinals will be plenty nervous if Pujols wants his mega deal, especially if he compares his deal to Holliday's. Pujols can name his price.. will the Cards match it? Might be a st. louis guy like Peyton is in Indy though. Not demanding the biggest contract.

Granderson (old news) had the 2nd lowest OBP among leadoff men (to b.j. upton), but that short porch will have yankees fans loving the HR numbers I'm afraid.

I hate the Melky Cabrera deal. Not only because I hate the yankees. Matt Diaz kills the ball, Jordan Schafer is alright... and the #1 OF prospect (Jayson Heyward) has skills for days. Not a gigantic Melky believer, but i guess they figure Garrett Anderson is about totally done.. Schafer/Diaz/Heyward battle. I like the lineup though. Javier Vasquez should've equaled Miguel Cabrera, not Melky. Sign Sheets. Sorry, Kenshin.

Ben Sheets? Somebody? Anybody...? Worth a try, IMO. I'd like to see him and tim hudson back shoving it, and I'm not even a Braves fan.

I'm having baseball WITHDRAWALS... so feel free to respond, criticize... anything haha. I'm at work til 2, so this may not be my last rambling of the night.

The Mariners just locked up an ace and maybe top... 3? starter in the league for the next 5 years

The mets should go hard after Ben Sheets. Dodgers might need him just as much, though.

Angels, Dodgers and Mariners are the teams i've heard tied with him lately... Every site i've read seems to doubt the Cubs are that serious of contenders for him.

Pineiro will be no good out of the NL. Also, Gary Matthews was traded to the Mets today, with the Angels eating 21.5 million of his contract.

yeahhhhh i severely questioned that move by the Mets, until i realized the Angels were eating that amazing contract.

How long until somebody signs Johnny Damon? I never thought he'd get $10 mill+ per year, but it's amazing that it's almost February and a guy like that is unemployed.

Supposedly the Yankees are chatting with him again. Even with bad defense in LF, his bat might be the better option over Brett Gardner. He wouldn't be a huge step up at DH over Johnson in New York, imo.

What's the countdown til spring training at? Anyone know the date for opening day of spring training? I miss baseball season

The Carlos Gomez/JJ Hardy deal genius by the brewers just clicked for me. Lost Cameron.. there is Gomez. And Alcides Escobar at shortstop is going to be a player. One scout said, "Think Elvis Andrus, but a little better, and a lot faster." He could be exciting to watch.

It all gets cranked up March 2nd. Three Grapefruit league games... March 2nd and 3rd the games are scarce, but after that everything is full throttle.

April 4th (Easter Sunday), I get the best birthday present I could ask for... opening day of baseball. :dance2::dance2:

Can't wait

The white sox have given themselves a 24 hour deadline to decide on the fate of Jim Thome. I have a feeling he'll be a twin.

I'm one of the few Braves fans hoping that the Braves don't get back into the game for Damon. I think between his power numbers going down and his defense in a place like Turner Field, the difference between Damon and Diaz/Cabrera isn't all the much.
