2009-10 Offseason Discussion

Elvis Andrus is better than Alcides Escobar.

I agree with everything GA Vol said concerning Damon. He will have considerably less power at Turner Field. He won't steal bases cause no one does with Bobby running the show. Won't be too much of an upgrade, if any over the Diaz/Cabrera platoon.

My question is, when is someone going to sign Ben Sheets? And what's the deal with Erik Bedard?

I think Bedard might still be hurt enough to where people are shying away... The Mariners would have Adam Jones, Chris Tillman and George Sherrill if they hadn't made the huge move for Bedard.

If someone needs a pretty decent bat, Ty Wigginton can be had at this point. Garrett Atkins and Miguel Tejada in Baltimore.

I think if the Brewers run (they kinda don't sometimes), Alcides steals more bases... Might hit higher than .267 and they'll both score a lotta runs. I like both of them, so hopefully Andrus keeps improving in his 2nd year.

As a Braves fan, I've liked Andrus for quite some time. I think he'll turn into a perennial .290-.300 hitter. but what I love is his defense, he's going to be special defensively. I like them both as well, though having seen Escobar play some here in Nashville. I'd rather have Andrus though

In the prospect rankings from beginning of last year, Escobar was actually about 15 spots ahead of Andrus at #8. They handed Elvis the keys and he ran with it, and the Brewers are following suit... I tend to love good, young players just about no matter what.

Rangers got Salty, Andrus, Matt Harrisona AND Neftali Feliz all in the Teixeira deal.

They got beau jones too I believe. Yunel & McCann made salty & Elvis expendable. We gave up way too much for Tex, but we don't miss any of them except Feliz. However, it did thin out the system a bit and we could have gotten a much large return if we traded those guys separately.

I love Yunel. One of my favorite players. He can go on tears.
Salty hasn't been the stud everyone expected him to be yet, and McCann already was... so it works out. I'm excited to see Feliz pitch this year, whether it's in the rotation or what. Everyone with the rangers is praying for Harden's arm on a nightly basis.

They did get Beau Jones, yes.

Nationals signed... Chris Duncan, Tyler Walker... and chuck james to a minor league deal.

He might be one of their better 3 outfielders if he's healthy. Better than the Nelson Cruz contract.

-Jim Thome returns to the AL Central with the Twins

-Jon Garland decides to have another go around in the NL West with the Padres

Yankees have acquired Randy Winn.

This all but seals the deal that Damon's tenure as a Yank is done.

Rays and Nationals chasing after Hudson (idk why the Rays are...)

Mets or Rockies might be rumored too.

The Reds and the Rays are going after the services of SS Orlando Cabrera. Meanwhile, after taking a year off, OF Jim Edmonds decided to give it a go with the Brew Crew for a spot on the roster.

I could probaly find it on ESPN.com but I can't remember the youngin's name. He is a pitcher either on Baltimore or Washington's farm team. Supposed to be a superstar and I thought he was getting called up this year, hell if i know....I wish I still had my insider account.

Stephen Strasburg.

If he stays healthy, he will be in the Bigs this year.
