2010 Prospects

All of these kids are risks so lets not give Boyd too much credit for a good Army game. But He may not even want this kid for QB. It says he is a great athlete. Who knows!

It is possible that they could have another position in mind for him. Most HS players play a couple of different positions....possibly they see something in him to make him a safety if they don't plan on using him at QB. I don't really know though!:)

He is certainly getting the offers. (BC, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, South Florida, Tennessee)

He is definately a wanted man!!

Beats me, dude. Scout lists him as a WR also, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

You guys are right. An athlete is an athlete. Either he can be a stud pro style QB, stud WR, or stud DB. If, you have the God given talent. You can pretty much play anywhere with lots of hard work and a level head.

Ok, I will remember this in 2011 and 2012. We shall see if earns a QB position at the D1 level.

This guy could end up at QB, but it will be at a spread school like Florida, Utah, Michigan, or West Virginia. I could see Michigan winning this battle based on roster spots alone.

Why would Kiffin tell Boyd he won't fit the system? And, offer Christian Green a scholarship the following year. How is Boyd's character? Was it more of a character issue? Maybe Boyd's earrings make Kiffin think of Terrell Owens. Maybe Green isn't a true dual threat type. Does anyone have a logical explanation?

Christian Green - Football Recruiting

I sincerely doubt it was anything character related at this point...if anything it's he for some strange reason thinks he can make crompton, et. all into top tier qbs rather than below-mediocre ones

I've been saying the whole time, Boyd doesn't have the arm strength. He would get picked off all the time in the SEC.

Still, if that's the case, would he (or perhaps could he) be worse than what we currently have for the next 3-4 years at QB?

I think it was mentioned before, but Green is 6-2 already as a junior, a good bit taller than Boyd. After watching his film I think Green's footwork is really smooth and he has an extremely quick release. He has better arm strength than Boyd too. Kind of reminds me of B Schaeffer except a better passer. The other possibility is that we would want him as a reciever. That's all I can think of.

Schaeffer could launch the ball. His problem was between the ears.

I had heard that Boyd's mom is very involved and is potentially one of those parents that would be a real pain in the you know where if Boyd wasn't playing immediately...

Mathis' tenacious mentality and 10.47 100-meter speed were on display at a number of camps and combines over the past year. His ability to stay in the hip pocket of practically every receiver he faced was enough to garner offers from Michigan, Cincinnati, Iowa, Tennessee, Oregon and Miami (Fla.) before the New Year. He gave serious consideration to ending his recruitment early by committing to the Hurricanes, but in the end he thought it more prudent to further evaluate his options.
"It really wasn't the right time and my head wasn't really right," Mathis explained. "I was trying to focus on my grades instead of worrying about football at that time. I had to sit down with my parents, my coach and talk about it. I'm interested in every school that offers me, but there are only a couple of schools that stand out really. Right now those schools are Florida, Miami, Michigan and Ohio State."

I grew 3-5 inches between 15 & 18. Other people I knew grew more than that in the same span.

David Oku was 5'8 as a junior and everyone wanted him. He is now listed at 5'10.

Devrin may likely end up at 5'10. I would be disappointed in Tennessee's staff if they didn't pursue him. He has two years to develop and I am personally looking forward to seeing things play out.
