2010 Prospects

The reason I remember it so well is I was the same height if not shorter than the girls in my grade freshman year, sophomore year I was taller than them, and then grabbed a few more inches the next couple years.

Weird my dad is 5'7, mom is 5'1, sis is 5'.. makes ya wonder about that milkman huh??

Guess what I'm getting at in a round about way is that this kid still has some growing to do :)

I don't care if he's 4' tall...if the kid can put up stats like that in 5A as a sophmore....I would be checking him out. I know the UT staff can evaluate talent like no one else in the country, so if the kid has that special "something" that doesn't show up on paper, then they will see it.

Heard that the Kiffins were in Ooltewah today talking to Jaques Smith. I know he still has another year to go and offers are still pouring in, but all I'm hearing is that its a two horse race between UT and UGAly.

I thought he was a UT lock after hearing that he told his grandmother, a Bama fan, that he probably wouldn't go there. But I'm worried his love for CMR is growing bigger.

Let's hope this is one of many, many visits from the Kiff's. We need him baaaaad. Also I would love to see a player from Ooltewah in orange and white.

Hey Skyline, do you know if the Spartans will play any nationally-televised games next fall on ESPN or Fox Sports?

I'd like to see this team in one of the Friday night spotlight games.

They'll be playing Oaks Christian from CA, and another top Oregon team that hasn't been decided yet. I doubt the Oregon game will be televised, but I'm pretty sure the Oaks Christian game will be on ESPNU. Should be fun to watch, Oaks having one of the top RB in CA and Joe Montana's son at QB.

Scout.com: Heaps names Top-10

Scout just released his top 10

cool, thanks, I didn't expect to see this till at least Monday or Tuesday of next week.

my list had ASU instead of the Beavers and Stanford for LSU. Harbaugh has been getting a decent bit of buzz out there. I knew LSU had offered, but I didn't know if Jake was that interested in them.

Jake's 10---

BYU
California
Colorado
LSU
Oregon State
North Carolina
Notre Dame
Tennessee
UCLA
Washington

LSU - "It's a powerhouse program. It's in the SEC, and coach Crowton is an amazing offensive mind. It's LSU. You see them on national television almost every weekend."

WTF is this guy talking about? I live out here too and hardly ever see LSU on TV.

I am surprised that Washington State isn't on his list. I had read an article about a month ago that said he had a good relationship with the Washington State staff.

I read this on a thread on another site. I can't vouch for it's accuracy whatsoever, but if it is true, this could get interesting.

In February, 2010 standout quarterback Jake Heaps will be in Knoxville with his parents for an unofficial visit. The Heaps family will be in town Feb. 15-17 to see things. Heaps told me this week that he continues to call and speak regularly with David Reaves and in the past couple of weeks he has called and visited with offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and Lane Kiffin.

"Coach Kiffin is awesome," Heaps said. "I really enjoyed talking to him. And I like coach Chaney. He has a good pedigree and when you start talking about what he has done for Drew Brees, I get excited. I wanted to get down there as soon as I could and the dates worked for me to get to do it in February. I am really looking forward to it."

Sound's very promising.

Yay Yay.

I can vouch for that, but only because the cat's out of the bag.

Hubbs reported that on Thursday. That's a straight copy & paste of a Hubbs' post.

lol. I kinda figured that. It looked like Hubbs' work.

The entire "email" is on govolsxtra.

I just pulled that section as it pertained to Heaps.

The kid takes all his snaps out of the gun so it will be interesting to see if kiff goes after another qb who runs more of a pro style offense. Particularly if Heaps is planning on a mission.

It's fine, I delayed posting it, since I knew it'd be official in a matter of days.

Good point, I took a second look at my list and I had Washington State in place of Colorado. I'd say several people are somewhat surprised the Buffs got a nod over the Cougars.

I live out here too and hardly ever see LSU on TV.

satellite? what does CBS show on the west coast on Saturdays?

There's nothing to speculate on. We've already offered him. He called Tennessee after Kiffin was hired. Juniors have to initiate contact and he called to see if Kiffin was interested in him. There's nothing to speculate on. We want him and we're going after him. Don't be surprised to see us take two quarterbacks in this class, in the event that Jake decides to take his mission trip.

He's a stud and a student of the game. I've watched and read everything he's said in the past few months and he's really got his wits about him.

He hasn't lost a game as a starter. He's a winner, he's a leader, and he understands that to be a leader, you build relationships off the field. We want him, period.
