2012 Silly Season Discussion

It seems likely. I wonder if Gibbs will move Logano to a 4th car or allow him to look for a ride elsewhere if this happens.

I will be finding another driver to follow if Edwards drives the car that little weirdo LOgano is driving.

Kind of exciting actually.

I want Edwards to stay with Roush, but that is for my own selfish reasoning that I am a Ford man. I started following Mark Martin solely because he drove a Ford but then started pulling for the driver, not the car, before the move to Chevy. When I thought he was going to retire, I became a fan of Edwards to stick with Roush/Ford, but I liked him as a driver too. I will continue to follow Carl if he goes elsewhere.

Your reasoning for liking Carl is exactly the same as mine. But I will not follow him racing in a Japanese car manufacturer. Especially not the 20 car.

I've said this before but I never understand brand loyalty. I don't care what my driver is in as long as he is winning. That's why I didn't mind seeing Mark leave Ford for Chevy.

There is no reason to pull for brand in Nascar. The only thing brand related on the car is the emblem and even that is a decal. None of those automakers use carburetors anymore, you can't buy any of those cars from the dealer in rear-wheel drive and nothing about them is stock in any way.
 
NASCAR Race Hub said that some sources have said that Carl should make an announcement a little before or at Indianapolis. Take that for what its worth.

Basically correct, but the engine blocks and heads are made by the auto manufacturer. In Nationwide the Charger and Mustang are rwd.
 
Besides, they haven't been stock cars since before most people were alive or can remember.

That argument doesn't hold weight anymore.
 
How can anyone justify the 31 team's performance? I can't see this team not getting shuffled.

Todd Berrier will be replaced within the team, which will be run by a committee of crew chiefs in the coming races. UPDATE: Luke Lambert has been named interim crew chief for Richard Childress Racing's #31 Caterpillar/Chevy team with driver Jeff Burton in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Lambert replaces veteran crew chief Todd Berrier. "Todd has been an important part of RCR's success for many years," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. "He is still employed and under contract and his role with RCR will be determined in the near future." Berrier has been an RCR employee since 1994. This will be Lambert's first stint as a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series crew chief. The 28-year-old has been with RCR since September 2005. He was named a team engineer for the No. 31 program in 2008. He is a 2005 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. My belief has been Edwards would stay at Roush, but now I'm not so sure. During an interview Matt Kenseth said something to the effect of after Carl is gone. The word "if" should have been used unless a decision has been made.

I think he is gone too. Would rather follow him @ Roush, but it is what it is. I also saw them doing a discussion, and they said his chance to win the title is over once/ if he says he is leaving. Really wish he was signed for longer. Why would he want to leave iyho? I know Jack can pay the man, and he has been good in those cars.

Sometimes a driver feels he isn't appreciated to the extent that he thinks he deserves, and I get a little of this feeling from Carl. Perhaps JGR is willing to outspend Roush by a meaningful margin. Then there is that common affliction of race car drivers, Grass is greener itis coupled with it's all about me.
 
I'm sure he knows at this point. Hope it doesn't leak until after the season, or if he ever gets out of contention.

I think his decision is made, just doesn't want to kill the team's momentum by announcing his leaving. If he were staying, I think he would say so now to keep team morale up.
