2024 Official Seed List Watch Party Thread

I believe the rankings were as of today

They are. There really is no justifiable reason for UNC to be ahead of both TN and Marquette other than blue blood bias. Sure, UNC has the head to head, but that shouldn’t be the biggest factor, especially when UNC has a Q3 loss and is lower in the NET than both TN and Marquette.

If only Knecht hadn't been injured, we would have the head to head imo, which would make things simple. Bad luck.

I agree with your take, though.

Honestly the 1 seed that I want to match up with the most is Houston

Same. Only 1-seed I would truly hate playing is UConn. Just hate seeing the committee as of today put us in Purdue’s bracket yet again. It almost has to be intentional at this point with how often they’ve been in our bracket.

Always looking for in season rematches in tournament.

Same. I couldn’t believe that UNC was ahead of us. 6 overall makes sense for TN. But UNC has been bad lately and has worse losses than we do.
But they beat us. When two teams are neck & neck head-to-head is an easy tiebreaker. And yea, I know they’ve struggled their last couple games but this is all based on the body of work for the entire season.

UNC has 6 Quad 1 wins. We only have 4. And they beat us head-to-head.

This is basketball. Head to head is not nearly as important as in football. They have a Q3 loss. That’s a major blemish. And if you want to use the H2H as that big of a reason to be ahead of us, what’s the excuse for having them over Marquette?

I’m not on the committee, dude. I’m just telling you UNC has six Quad 1 wins and we have four. And they beat us.

We beat UK twice a couple years ago, had a better overall record, were ranked #5 in the nation and got a #3 seed while they got a #2 seed. Blue Blood bias is frequent.

Marquette did not show up AT ALL at UConn today. Vandy-esqe performance for a 4th ranked team

I’m assuming you’re talking about 2022 when we were ranked 5th in the AP poll going into Selection Sunday and UK was ranked 7th. You’d have to look at the body of work using the tools the selection committee uses, starting with the NET rankings. Top 25 poll rankings are not a part of the committee’s criteria, BTW. I will assume you didn’t know that since you brought it up here. And, we did beat UK twice but also lost to them by 28 points in the other meeting.

Both teams were 26-7 after the conference tournament, so saying either team had a better overall record is false.

I tried to look up the NET rankings from Selection Sunday of that year but couldn’t find them. The final NET from April 4th had us #6 and them #10 after they were bounced by Saint Peter’s.

We both had 6 q1 wins. We had 9 q2 wins, they were 5-1 there. They had 15 Q3/4 wins to our 13 because they played 2 more games there. We had 0 non-q1 losses. They had one. Our sos was 5th, theirs was 18th. We were both 6-5 in true road games. There was no metric I could find where they were better than we were as far as a resume goes. We were told by Lunardi that even before the beating we gave them in the SECT that they were getting the 2 and we were getting the 3.

UK also proved that the seeding was wrong by losing immediately (I know we did too, I’m just saying).

I think we were better built to beat St Peter’s that year and UK was better built to beat Michigan (Tshiebwe vs Dickinson probably goes Tshiebwe’s way back then with ref help).

Lunardi has studied the dolts on the committee. They trust him.

They are 6-4 and we are 5-5 vs Q1. This is all changing by the day and our resume is equal, if not better when considering both team’s losses.
People scream head to head doesn't matter. Yes it does but not pushed like in Football..
