2024 WNBA Discussion Thread

I'm so excited for Jordan (and Tamari and Lou)! It should be a lot of fun, but I do hope she'll be smart and not attempt too many passes her new, assumably some less talented, teammates aren't ready and able to catch, else she'll lead the league in turnovers. 😲

If the not-so-speedy Lou Brown put up 25 in the first game, I imagine Jordan could average that much if she wanted to. Like you said, glv, she needs this for her confidence.

Ya know, I have a feeling as she continues to gain confidence in her personal life and the way she expresses herself, that Horston will benefit professionally as well. There has been a lot of obvious personal growth in the past couple of years, but way more even in the past year. Good for Jordan!

Good story on Jordan and her stint w the Queens in NZ. It's definitely big fish in a small pond - they're excited for a record crowd of 3,000 - but that is exactly what JH needs and deserves right now. Won't help her much skills wise, but will help head wise which is always Jordy's challenge. Their game tonight will be on You Tube and ESPN3 at 10 p.m. est (I think)
Nice! I hope she rocks the league!

Yikes the Queens game didn't go so well but we have to keep in mind Jordy was fresh off a long flight and hadn't even practiced w the team. Watched the last few mins after the football game (and the Vandy! game) but couldn't find an actual box score. Jordan had 23 pts but commentators mentioned she was like 6-22 fm the field. Also the Queens had 21 t.o.s. TK didn't play any that I saw, curious how much she did play. Only had 9 mins in their previous game.

Level of competition looks approx D2 or 3, so Jordy will have much better days.

You're right that Horston was 6-22 with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block...and 8 turnovers.

Lou had 7 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and 4 turnovers.

Tamari had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 turnover.

Oh my goodness, how I love seeing that the Queens fans were so supportive! Makes me even more sad, though, that Jordan's much-anticipated debut ended in a loss. Dang. Gotta hand it to their opponent, though, for bowing up and sticking it to the Queens like that.

Hopefully Jordan will make the adjustment quickly. Unfortunately, 8 turnovers is not surprising after only one practice session with a new team. Still, Horston's gotta figure it out sooner.

Great news for Unrivaled. Alex Brazzell knows his way around the pro basketball world. He's the president of the league, and also Napheesa Colliers' hubby. Also the top trainer/skills coach in bball, trains Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irvine, started out w Kobe Bryant. Especially impressive to sell this tv package for a format that's pretty much unknown. 3 x 3 full court sounds fun as hell to me, but it remains to be seen.

They really have gathered pretty much the leagues best players, with the exception of CC and Aja. I'm actually glad they and their drama won't be around.

They still gotta finish the roster but we gone see how it goes..just mainly some of these new fans that were the problem this season well to me at least and Aja needs her rest

What a great, fun series! This is what can happen when the social drama and agendas are laid aside and players just play and fans just fan. It's a big reason why I like the Lynx and Collier so much. They're always like this. Minimal flopping, flailing, or whining. In fact, Phee told the team they whined too much in game 2 and need to cut it out. Of course they'll stand up for themselves, but in comparison to all whine all the time teams like the Sun and the Fever, they're such a welcome relief.

Some missed bunnies late really cost the Lynx and Sabrina came through big time at the end after being pretty bottled up the whole game. Actually the D on that last play wasn't bad but nowadays players like McBride and Sab only need a split second to get the shot off. If the LVs had a 3 pt shooter like that . . .

Can't wait for game 4 Friday night. Lynx had a finals record crowd of almost 20,000 and they were rocking.

Sabrina. Man, that was clutch!
Agreed, that whole game filled with speed, quickness, maximum effort and shot making was a commercial for how good the sport can be. It also highlighted the huge gap from the college game to that.

Sabrina channeled her inner Kobe on that deeeep 3. She also hit a clutch shot to put the Liberty in front before the Lynx tied. Kudos to her for taking and making a pair of clutch shots on an otherwise poor shooting night.

I am still picking the Lynx to take the title, even though the odds have tilted in favor of the Liberty. Its team ball versus super team play makers.
