8th in Recruiting in the SEC for 24...

Your argument can easily be turned against you though. Tennessee's average is higher because they have less players. If OK shed their 8 worst players from their class, how much better would they get in average? If Tennessee added 8 more players would they most likely be 3* and a couple 4*? Probably and our ranking would be worse still than OK.

So I'm not sold on your argument that OK is higher ranked just because they have more players. More players usually means more regression toward the mean which means the more players they add the worse their ranking would get because there are only so many 4 and 5* player to be had.
I just checked the most recent Class of 2024 player rankings on 247 again ....

Tennessee has 4 commitments in the top 100
Oklahoma has 2 commitments in the top 100

Tennessee has 9 commitments in the top 250
Oklahoma has 10 commitments in the top 250

The two classes are really very similar. The difference is, Tennessee's top 2 are better than anyone Oklahoma has. I wouldn't trade Tennessee's class for Oklahoma's ... but I would also admit that overall, there isn't much difference between the two. William Satterwhite is just outside the top 250 .... If you take the top 10 players from each class, you have pretty much the same thing, which proves my point. There isn't much difference, if any, between the 8th ranked team and the 14th ranked team. Too much importance is attached to the numerical rankings on this forum.

Yes .... much better.

OMG .... Once again, some people here, think Baron is much better than he really is. If he was getting a high NFL Draft projection, he would be going to the NFL - not Oxford, Mississippi. Do you honestly consider Baron and McDonald to be much of a loss for Tennessee? That is ridiculous.

Jordan Ross next season as a freshman > Tyler Baron as a senior.
Mike Matthews next season as a freshman > WR from South Carolina

"Got both UT guys" ???? Are you serious with that? LOL.
But doesn't that work both ways? Everyone is excited about the return of Spragins, Mays, and Pili. Rightfully so. But that also means they didn't receive a high NFL draft projection. Otherwise they would be gone. So what's the difference? The ones who chose to come back are great players returning for a final season. The ones who chose to leave stink and wouldn't have played anyway.

See how that works?

I haven't said a word about Spraggins or Pili coming back to Tennessee. As a matter of fact, I've never said anything about Pili. The only thing I know about him, is that he transferred from BYU. He has never played a down for Tennessee.

You, on the other hand, appear to be giving Lane Kiffin a lot of credit for landing two players from Tennessee's portal, who quite frankly, aren't much of a loss for Tennessee.

Post went right over your head. And I don't have the patience to explain it to you.

Might want to go watch the UVA game again. I believe you will find that not only did Pili play a down for UT but he played practically every defensive snap.

Seriously?

If he did, I don't remember it .... My bad.

My point still holds that you are kissing Kiffin's a$$ for getting two transfers from Tennessee, who will not be missed next season.

Yes ... Seriously.

Just checked Pili's stats on sports-reference. He did play against Virginia ... and had 4 tackles. That is also the only game he has played in at Tennessee. Good lord.

... sorry I missed his 4 tackles against one of the worst teams we played this season. I'm sure they were very memorable.

IMHO ain't a nickels worth of difference between 4-8, and probably not 3-8. It looks like 1 & 2 might have some distance between the rest of the pack.
Georgia has a phenomenal class .... but it took a bit of a hit yesterday. Dylan Raiola made it official. He's a Husker now.

LOL.

That is just based on what is in the portal .... it's not the same thing as pulling from a pool of high school talent. It's funny that you think it is the same thing though.

Ask yourself something .... Is any recruiting list which has Arizona State and Texas Tech in the top 6 going to be truly meaningful? LOL. You are killing me, dude!

Once again ... this forum is way too caught up in these damn numerical lists.

Deflect, deflect, deflect........Ole Miss had the 3rd ranked portal class last year. What was their record this season? But I'm sure that is just a coincidence.

But don't let facts get in the way of you inane argument

LOL!!!!

Do you honestly think recruiting from the portal is the same thing as recruiting high school talent? I suppose you think Georgia should shift their strategy away from recruiting elite high school talent, and just recruit the portal? I'm not saying the portal can't help, but it's not what you build a program around. You are speaking of the portal as if it's the same thing as signing high school talent ... and that is more than inane. It's just plain stupid.

Ole Miss' record this past season??

Ole Miss' record this past season??
Georgia and Alabama's records the past 3 seasons? The schools who consistently finish in the top 10, will be those who consistently do the best job of recruiting elite high school talent .... not the ones who emphasize the portal.

..... and besides Hooker (who was obviously instrumental) and to a much lesser extent Bru McCoy, what transfers played a significant role on Tennessee's team last year when they went 11-2? Do you honestly think that recruiting from the portal is the same thing as recruiting high school talent? LOL.

Ole Miss' record last season?

Let me ask you this. Say we were to ended up #4 in recruiting overall this year. Would you be expecting a championship based on that?
The chances would be better by a good shot......Go look at the recruiting of the teams that played for the BCS championships....go look at the recruiting classes of the teams in the 4 team playoffs since the playoffs started. The 12 team playoffs will water that down some but you can pretty much count on the winners even in the 12 will be the top recruiting classes...Recruiting 12-15 in the country won get it done IMO except very few and far between. We were winning the SEC with talent....We won the NC with the best talent in the country.

Ole Miss' record last season?
The same regular season record that Tennessee had last year .... and Tennessee does not emphasize the portal (although, it's accurate to say that their most important player in both 2021 and 2022, Hendon Hooker, came from the portal).

Georgia's record this past season? Alabama's? They both utilize the portal .... but it is not their emphasis.

10-2. Top 10 in the country. Roster riddled with portal transfers.

Facts.

That's one year!

Now, how about Georgia's and Alabama's the past 3 seasons? Very few transfers who play significant roles.

Once again, the schools who consistently (not just one season) finish in the top 10, will be the schools who consistently do the best job of recruiting elite high school talent. Not the schools who place heavy emphasis on the portal. You aren't seriously contesting that are you?

If given the choice between Georgia's high school class this year and the Ole Miss portal class .... tell me the name of just one idiot who would rather have the Ole Miss transfer class.

Vols are recruiting at a championship level. Citrus bowl champs that is.
I will point out that they are recruiting at about the same level as what led to them being Orange Bowl Champs last year ... and they would have easily made a 12 team playoff last season.
