I just checked the most recent Class of 2024 player rankings on 247 again ....Your argument can easily be turned against you though. Tennessee's average is higher because they have less players. If OK shed their 8 worst players from their class, how much better would they get in average? If Tennessee added 8 more players would they most likely be 3* and a couple 4*? Probably and our ranking would be worse still than OK.
So I'm not sold on your argument that OK is higher ranked just because they have more players. More players usually means more regression toward the mean which means the more players they add the worse their ranking would get because there are only so many 4 and 5* player to be had.
Tennessee has 4 commitments in the top 100
Oklahoma has 2 commitments in the top 100
Tennessee has 9 commitments in the top 250
Oklahoma has 10 commitments in the top 250
The two classes are really very similar. The difference is, Tennessee's top 2 are better than anyone Oklahoma has. I wouldn't trade Tennessee's class for Oklahoma's ... but I would also admit that overall, there isn't much difference between the two. William Satterwhite is just outside the top 250 .... If you take the top 10 players from each class, you have pretty much the same thing, which proves my point. There isn't much difference, if any, between the 8th ranked team and the 14th ranked team. Too much importance is attached to the numerical rankings on this forum.
