No I do not see this as racist. As a matter of fact looking beyond the recruiting, but as you brought out in your op is that he can level with those kids because they have probably been through the same stuff in life. And it is positive for a young African American male to look up to another positive African American male. JMO

13 years removed from a final four doesn't make you as elite as you think. Florida is the elite BB program in the SEC right now. This is coming from a UT fan.
It is up to you if want to count the stuff from back in the day with the original racist coach.

Not feelin ya on this, UF has not been a contender for a couple of seasons now and UK history blows theirs away. UK is and will always be top dog in sec.
That's makes perfect sense why all those black kids from Memphis signed with the black coaches at Memphis (Coaches Cal and Pastner). Thanks for clearing it up. To address your later post calling everyone who doesn't see it your way clowns and calling out white people on keyboards. Again more sterotyping and racist crap, very becoming.Another idiot that doesn't get the point. Let me ask you genius, how many homes have you been in during recruiting visits? How many Memphis HS coaches have you spoken to regarding this subject? Since 1995, much less. How many summer road trips have you been on with a team, where you really have true conversations with kids and what goes through their mind? You are clueless about many things, and the first of which is understanding what you are arguing about.
If you dont think that him being black will help at all with some families then you really dont understand the mindset of some of the black families in the south very well. The OP said it may help he did not say 100% definitely will. It wont hurt as far as black recruits go i can tell you that much.
