ACC Championship Game: #4 FSU vs #14 Louisville (8PM EST, ABC)

how is that a horrible guideline? This FSU offense is absolute trash lol

Bama was 1 play away from losing to Auburn. If they lost to Auburn that would be 2 games. Yet, they would still be far, far better than FSU.

Should a 2 loss Bama get in over FSU? If your answer is no, then you're agreeing with me that it should be the 4 best resumes. If you say yes, then why even play the games?

Apparently Iowa is forbidden to pass the ball down field

Now that he's fired his son, he should hire someone form an elite offensive tree. I want to see what that defense can do with Heupel's offense or Sarkisian.

If they're going to leave out undefeated teams from major conferences, they should immediately all be replaced by either the BCS or if you really want the "best teams" (I don't) just let Vegas odds makers select the field.

If you're picking the "best teams", Bama could've lost to Auburn and beat Georgia and everyone on the planet knows that a 2 loss Bama team is still better than FSU. But better and deserving aren't the same thing.

We should be picking the 4 teams that have the best resumes, period.

Then we should just stop playing the conference championship games. To me a team proves it is good enough to win a championship by winning a championship that leads to the opportunity to win that next championship.

If that is not the case, then the SEC and B1G bias would always dictate which teams would be in and that is why we now have these super conferences that is quite frankly destroying college football with these strange conference alignments as everyone tries to get into one of those conferences due to the BIAS that says those are the BEST conferences.

So let's just rename the CFP to the SEC/B1G championship game and be done with it all.

Does anyone know if Vegas has a line on who scores first tonight: Louisville or Iowa?

“Should be picking based on” and “currently picking based on” are different discussions. He made a distinction between deserving and best.

But there are too many college football teams to have it be purely results based since they don’t all play each other or even play the same teams. It’s not possible. Teams are ranked based on opinion. Even next year it will still be subjective based on opinion with 12 teams. The discussions will shift from which team should have been number 4 to which team should have been number 12.

The better thing though is with 12 teams you probably are actually getting the top 4-5 teams in there so nobody truly deserving is being left out. And if a 2 loss number twelve teams runs through the playoffs and wins I’m fine with that.

In this scenario both teams (FSU and Bama) are conference champions. So I'm not sure what you're saying.

I didn't say results, I said "resumes".

Here's my question to you or anyone else who believes the goal should be "best teams":

If Bama drops the Auburn game and is 10-2 would you still be saying they should be in over FSU? Not converting a 4th and 31 doesn't make them a better or worse team. They'd still be better than FSU, the only difference is their resume would be worse. That's where the focus should be.

This Louisville D is awesome...they average holding opponents to 20 points a game. Of course, Kentucky put up 38 but that's just how Kentucky rolls - they are powerhouse.

Another question for the "best team" crowd. What if you reverse the timeline of the FSU injury. What if he missed the first 3 games instead of the last three, they start 0-3, win out, win their conference, and blow everyone out from game 4 on and seem to obviously be the best team in the sport?

Should a 9-3 team be in the playoffs if they're "the best team"?

Teams want in the B1G and SEC because of massive media deals.

Those deals exist because the quality of the football is generally better, the markets are stronger for football, and the games draw more eyeballs.

Few people wanted to watch the PAC and they actually couldn't get a TV deal worth having so the conference members skipped out to more lucrative conferences. The SEC and B1G choose their new members based upon potential revenue.

The bottom line: ALL the college games are designed to generate revenue, not purely for sports or regional rivalry or whatever existed in the 50s. It's about revenue.

Expecting the CFP committee to NOT consider revenue generation for the games when EVERYTHING else in college football is revenue based is naive.

They should do what is good for college football and choose the playoff teams that will generate the best games and most revenue. It's a business, a pro sports business.

What if scenarios don’t really change anything. It’s all subjective opinion based. Weight is put on multiple factors. 3 losses are too many to overcome.

The great thing is next year that 9-3 team might actually make that 12 spot.

It seems you’re agreeing “best” isn’t the goal but rather “best resume”. If you’re saying 3 is too many.

What about 10-2 Bama? If they didn’t get that 4th and 31 but everything else played out the same. They wouldn’t be any worse of a team. They would still be better than FSU. But I think we’d agree they still shouldn’t be in
