My grandfather (who was not a Yankee's fan) told me "Son, Mickey Mantle before the knee injury is the greatest baseball player God ever made. Don't you ever forget that."

Was the poster boy for five tool.

The first "Beast". He's probably the most underrated player pre-1970 there is.

Doubt it. Lot of guys fist get hype due to markets they played in and lack of coverage. Harmon Killebrew comes to mind.

Game 2 of the '51 Series.

Just not even fair. He easily would have 300 SB's, 600 homers, and God knows how many doubles/triples if he didn't screw his knee up.

Lf- Ted Williams
CF- Mickey
RF- Ruth
3b- Brooks
SS- Arod
2b- Roger Hornsby
1b- Stan Musial
C- Bench
P- Koufax, Walter Johnson, or Nolan Ryan

Cochrane and Hornsby are my 2 old time favorites..

H is for Hornsby
When Pitching to Rog,
The pitcher would throw,
Then the Pitcher would dodge.

Sports writing at its finest.

Cochrane was basically Joe Mauer in the twenties/thirties
