While there will always be the percentage of blue goggled idiots who want to fire everyone if we have no title within a few years, I honestly believe that most UK will be content with his program. Plug in another elite coach for example who many wanted during our last coaching escapade, Tom Izzo. He runs a great program also, and usually builds good teams every year, but really gears up with upperclassmen and goes after a title every 3 or 4 years, when all variables are correct. With Cal, you literally have the chance to make a final 4 every season, and once you get that far it is in fates hand.

I'm a gambler, and the more odds I have on reaching the final four each year, that is the bet I take. It is different for everyone, and like I said there will be many traditionalist here in KY that want to recruit "good ole kentucky boys", but overall I think most will be satisfied. Cal will leave UK in another 5 years, if not sooner, so it's probably a moot discussion anyway.

Hard to argue. As a coach/recruiter, you can stack the deck in your favor so much, but when March rolls around, luck plays a part. Whether it be seeding, upsets, etc. Maximizing the odds in your favor every year makes sense.

Clarksville is not Nashville. I don't know anyone in Clarksville that supports Vandy, and I lived there for 18 years until I came to UT.

If you can't see the sarcasm in that post, I don't know what to tell you.

Why leave? NBA?

Why leave? NBA?

One universal factor is that we are talking about UK. It isn't in any coaches make up to withstand 10 years or more in this job, in the modern era. Sutton, Pitino, Smith, etc. It's why people like Jay Wright and Izzo passed on the job, because it's just a mental avalanche that some people just don't want to deal with, no matter the money.

As for Cal, it's just his make up, just not in his DNA to stay somewhere that long. He will stay long enough to give himself ample opportunity to achieve his dream and win a title. If he wins a title, he will move on to try other things, such as the NBA. If he fails to win a title, he will not linger in the same state with Pitino and the status quo, he will move on. And of course, there is always the possibility of sanctions. I could be wrong, but all things considered I think keeping Cal for 8 full seasons is a pipe dream.

You have to be the most level headed Kentucky fan I've ever talked to.

I agree 100%. I don't see Cal coaching anywhere else but Kentucky because that's pretty much the biggest stage he can get on unless your Coach K, Bill Self, or Roy Williams. I do see him jumping ship to the NBA and if he fails pretty hard, going somewhere else. No way he'd leave UK for another college though.

I'm pretty sure nashvegas is a vandy fan

Actually I was joking big guy.
I knew he was going to UK. At least all the signs said he was, and the signs were right.

Although i'm a vandy fan, i like to talk with UT fans bout recruits that both of us try to get.

I watched this guy play tonight. He went for 46 points, 17 rebounds, 9 blocks and had a couple of assist. He really didnt even seem to be playing hard part of the time and made stuff look simple. It was impressive and he won't be fun to deal with for sure.
